Because your heart is really elsewhere, and your body is giving this truth off to everyone through your aura. Something else, much better, is trying to find its way to you, and soon you will thank your lucky stars the cobol programmer thing fell through. You can continue to persist and perhaps either find something similar, and maybe even in a nearby town slightly to the East, but it will not come anywhere near satisfying you. Imagine being on the job for a month of it and wish you were doing something else you'd much rather be doing. I say, in closing, set the bar higher and go for what it obviously is that you would much rather be doing. Not only is it more fun, but you will meet more people and be far happier in every way if you make the extra effort and do what we call - "go for it!"
