my $.02.

go to the toyota website which details information closest to the type of operations the plant is based on. research the philosophy of the company and look for any information regarding job applications procedures and such, usually under the career section.

find out what types of positions they are hiring for. ask around to see if you know anyone who knows something or someone at toyota. it doesn't matter if your friend or relative works at a toyota division that is in another state. what you want is a recommendation from someone who works at toyota. it's also something you can mention briefly at the interview but don't rely on it as your ace card, that will depend on your personality, skill set and work philosophy.

type or handwrite nicely the application. pick a few jobs they are hiring for that you would be interested in doing. pick a position you have experience with. if no experience, pick something that you realistically think you could do. include things that you think can help the position or has some sort of relation to the job.

write a solid resume and cover letter that directly addresses the position. write what you have done in previous jobs that match what the new job is looking for. use spell check and have someone double check the grammar. take out all the fluff and things that are not relevant to the job. don't exaggerate (too much) and be as honest as possible in your resume (large corporations are usually quite savvy and they will probably do some sort of previous employment check). make sure your references give you a good and honest reference.

research online about resume and cover letter structure, if you do not have a confident resume. have someone competent look over your resume.

be as professional as possible. dress appropriately, never jeans and a t-shirt, etc. research online the etiquette of presenting yourself at a job application or interview. be confident but not arrogant. do your homework and know as much as you can about the position. taylor your resume and cover letter to the position. do not use the same resume and cover letter for different job positions. my general rule is to cater every resume and cover letter for every job.

if you really want to get into toyota or a large corporation, you have to do these things. this is what i did for the jobs i've applied to. remember, you are competing with literally thousands of other people who may or may not be more qualified than you.

believe you can obtain the job and believe in yourself. good luck!
