I think we should have a death penalty.
If you kill someone... do you really deserve to still live and be let out a few years down the line for good behaviour... just to re-commit again like so many do! If you take someones life the only fitting punishment is to lose yours!
If someone rapes or murders, etc a child i think they deserve the death penalty too. It disgusting the amount of criminals that are let out of prison just to rape or murder another child again. Doing something to a child is taking there whole life and innocence and childhood away from them if they survive.
I know some people can be rehabilitated and leave jail a new found person, but the majority don't. And with an over crowding prison system anyway. Isn't it a good idea to bring it back for server criminal punishment?

Takes to long to finally kill them off. Half the time they get pardoned. Eye for an eye. They had the choice not to kill, rape, whatever they did to get the death penalty. In my humble opinion, I have no problem with the death penalty. It just takes so damn long.

I don't recall your abortion question, but the two are completely unrelated. Why do people think there's any similarity between an innocent pre-born life and a murderer, say a Charles Manson type?

I know that a lot of the Pro-Death people try to make a comparison, but this just demonstrates their inability to think with reason.

I haven't come to a final decision on that matter. I tend to lean away from it after seeing The Exonerated on stage. I was almost selected for a jury that would be sitting on a death penalty case. I said that I could vote for the death penalty as a sentence as far as the law allows... and I would've if the evidence and aggravating circumstances called for it.

the abortion is against an innocent helpless person often for convenience and in my opinion a morally bad choice and likely a source of health problems and stress for the mother

the death penalty intended for serously violent dangerous criminals usually to deter crimes against others. For people who comit a very serious crime like killing a young child or policemen or mass murders I think there should be a death penalty... however it should be fairly decided and the evidense should be very clear since it cannot be undone

I dont see them as comparable

I'm against both abortion and the death penalty. Thou shalt not kill is pretty clear.

I believe that if a person is tried and found guilty of murder, then they should be put to death by either gas chamber or lethal injection. I dont believe we should have to continue taking care of them for as long as we usually do. I mean whats death row? Its a joke, thats what it is.

I dont think a killer is entitled to an appeal, either.. Did you know that on an average to take care of a prisoner, the tax payers pay $33,000.00 per person, per year!!!!!! Thats a sad statistic!!

I think more of our effort should be placed on identifying and trying to prevent the causes of violent crimes.

I'm not against the death penalty. I see a difference between murder, killing an innocent party, and requiring the life of a person who murders.
