i dont get why my parents are mad at me shaving my mustache. i didnt want it, i want to be clean cut. i followed the appropriate procedures for shaving. but they're still mad. i shaved because i dont like growing facial hair, and i think that u can look the way u want. also im i16 yrs old, they try to ontrol nearly about me, like my clothes even the sports i play-they didnt let me play football!! coz i might get injured but injury happens in any sport. they dont even let me watch shows like Friends, or mtv for some reason. im worried that ill be a parents boy forever, because i let them keep doing this to me. whenevr i talk to them aout this they just dont want to listen. sory for taking so long with this question but i needed to get all this of my chest. i know theyre worried about me, but im growing weary of their obsesive control. they also dont let me stay home alone at night for some reason. what am i gonna do?looks like i wont be free till college they'reprobably gonna letgo then

Wow you're parents have gone way too far. Getting mad because you made a decision to shave your mustache. Your 16 years old not 6 you are old enough to make that kind of decision without their permission before or afterwords. You need to start being more forward with your feelings. Yes they may not like it but you are a person with thoughts, opinions and feelings too. Just keep up the good work as you've been doing but speak up more and reveal your thoughts to them. Good luck.
P.S. I'm a grown women with 2 grown sons I'm not speaking as a peer but as another adult as your parents are, they aren't being fair to you.

You must be the oldest/only child. My parents were exactly the same way!

Explain to them that kids will tease you if you don't shave (even if it isn't true). I understand their point about football though. It is a violent sport which leads to more injuries than any other sport. Not to mention the higher occurence of drug, alcohol and steroid use among football players, as well as sexual promiscuity.

Either way, just keep being a good kid and when you graduate, the world will be yours. Hang in there . . .

I have more questions than answers. Did they give you a reason for not wanting you to shave? Is this a cultural or religious thing? What makes me ask that is that you said you followed the correct procedure for shaving.

It is hard to MAKE parents let you go. The only thing you can do is to keep explaining to them the way things should be. Be respectful and don't get angry, maybe they will eventually give in.

Good luck.

Wow it seems that you do have controlling parents. Perhaps you can ask them if they are willing to discuss what you are feeling and how it affects you. they are trying to protect you, but they are supposed to be raising an adult, not a child, explain you need to make some decisions in your life and they have to learn to trust you. You don't sound like you have broken this trust so they have no reason to say no. They only other thing you might try and talk to a school councilor, they are good at giving advice. Best of luck

This sounds like you are an only child. This fear of theirs about you shaving off your facial hair is pretty bizarre. They don't want a kid, they want a robot. How much longer do you legally have to put up with this? If I were you, I'd be getting out as soon as the law said I could live away from home.

i know u r probably think that they r being way to hard on u and im not gunna lie to u because they r- but do always remember that they love u and maby when they were growing up their parents were just like they r now this is the only way they know hao and they are doing the best they can i can asure u that u wont be a parents boy because parents boys like to be cuddled and treated like a baby i can tell just by the way u talk about what they do that u dont so dont worry about that next time you talk to them tell them and if they say they dont want to listen to it say "i dont care i always listen to what u have to say well now it is my turn to talk" so it will probably lead to a big sceaming fight but at least u will get your point across to them and when they cool down and the steam wears away they will see just how right u r and probably come talkto u about it like a civilized human, if not e-mail me and yell at me for being a lier.

lol your parents will NEVER let go. the reason they don't want you to shave your moustache is probably because they don't want to see you grow up. you're still their little baby whether you want to hear it or not.

I used to get in trouble for shaving my legs when i was in grade 8. I didn't understand it then but i do now. you have no control over how your parents feel and they feel they know what's best for you. don't worry so much...at least they love you.

Well, I'm a freshman and my parents dont care that I shave. In fact, I learned in like 7th grade from my brother who was a sophomore and is now a senior. If they have an adult friend that you are friendly with, try talking to him/her to tell your folks. If not, then just be brave, and tell them that you're a young adult, not a child anymore.

You are just growing up too fast for them. Parents sometimes have a hard time seeing their child get old enough to make some decisions on their own. They will get over it in time, maybe next time give them a heads up on what you are planing on doing.
