my parents do the same thing- all the time, i keep asking for a puppy or a sugar glider(sort of like a flying squirrel that is kept as a pet) and they always say that if i keep my room clean and all that jazz, that i can have one, but alas, the only pet i have all to myself is a fish (the FAMILY has a cat, but it's not the same as having your own pet) Just keep it up, show them that you deserve one, and talk to them, and brown nose if you have to, my parents have caved once before, (letting me have a parakeet (but my brother killed it)) and yours could to!!! Power to the parental-controlled young people!!! Let me know if you get your little friend!

You're parents may not think you're ready for the responsibility, you need to sit down and ask your parents why they haven't gotten the dog. Don't start a fight, have a calm conversation.

Because you cannot own a dog if you're under 18, it is ultimately their decision and responsibility.

Besides, a lot of work goes into properly training a dog, and how do you expect to potty train a puppy when you are in school all day?

Yes you can have a puppy. But remember, if you think you cant take care of them, dont have a puppy.
1, They urinate and excrete wherever they want in your home.
2. Sometimes they vomit in your home.
3. Once they start growing, they would play with all the things including spoiling / tearing the clothes etc
4. If you dont get them vaccinated, you would be in trouble of getting a injury from dog bite. Dog bites are dangerous and lead to death, if you dont get treatment from doctor.
5. You woudl have to take a lot of time and take your puppy for a walk everyday and spend sometine with it
6. You have to feed it atleast 2-3 times a day and keep it clean.
7. You have to take care that it has enough of space to play and run in your home
8. You have to get it bath once a month and take care that ticks and fleas are not on its body. (remember the tick and flea can even enter a human being......and have to operated to remove them. therefore hygeine and clean are very imporatnt when you keep pets)
9. Remember that puppy grows very soon and they need lot of protein food. You have to clean its plate and its home, since they cant do all those things.
10. Make sure that you can accomodate the puppy in your home, once it grows into a full grown dog.
11. Your dog might like to mate in future and like to have more puppies. Are you willing to take care of all those things.
12. Most important is you have to take your puppy to veterinian doctor every 3 months to get a medical check up and vaccination.

Remember to give teh puupy a decent shelter so that it can protect itself from snow, rain, summer heat and its feels comfortable. Most people get puppies at first glance and never give proper shelter, proper food and no time to spend time with it.

Think of all those and make a decision.

Cheers..

Maybe your parents do not think that you have Shown that you are responsible enough to care for a puppy yet. So maybe you should sit down with them and let them know that you are aware of what your responsibilities will be and that you know what needs to be done to care for a new puppy. Because they are a huge responsibility and they need alot of love and care.

Best suggestion: ask your parents again about a puppy and see what there answer is. understand that a puppy is a big responsibility and a huge commitment on everyones part. Good Luck.

Just say to your parents that you want a puppy bad and you will do some chores if you have to. I got a puppy by asking I am sure you can to just say you will do everything clean up it's poop and give it food and water and even take it for walks.

Just tell them you have changed your mind about the puppy. I know it may not be what they want to hear, but then you can concentrate on getting something else as a pet. Have you ever considered a goldfish?

I would just say, "Hey parents where is the puppy? The summer is over and I am not getting any younger."

They may realize that you aren't responsible enough for a puppy.
