My fiance is from a large family and has lotsa little nieces. I think 6. I'm not close to any of them but love my sisters two. Is that rude if I don't ask any of them? Will they hate me!

You should ask only the people who you want as bridesmaids. I would suggest you also ask at least one person who is not a relative, so that you don't have to answer why you didn't ask all your female relatives.

It's your wedding, so just have your sisters.

If you want good family relationship for the rest of your married life you might want to think about some way of including the nieces. Maybe the could all be dressed up the same and go down the church aisle with flowers before your entrance with your sisters.

If there are no other unmarried sisters on his side of the family it might be their only chance of being "brides maids".

Weddings are also about the union of 2 familys, see if there is someway you can compromise.

This is YOUR day. The whole wedding is for YOU. There is no right or wrong about it - if you want only 2 bridesmaids and for those 2 to be your sisters, then by all means, your sisters it is. The groom's nieces can all be flower girls. When those nieces are all grown up and are orchestrating their weddings, it will be their day - their way.

Just explain that you want it to be a small wedding. You can have one or two be flower girls if they are young. If they are older then include them by inviting them to the bachelorette party and maybe do something fun with them at the bridal shower. Some people like big weddings and some dont. I was once one of seven bridesmaids and I am gonna be a Maid of Honor in my best friends wedding that will be one of three people. Its up to that particular person and they need to respect that its your wedding, your day. Congratulations!

So don't make them bridesmaids. Maybe you could find another job for them in the wedding. Flower girls, attendants, or carrying the train of your dress. Including them might foster a lot of goodwill within your new extended family.
you didn't mention how old they all are, but being in a wedding is a VERY big deal to a little kid.
Congratulations, and save me some cake!

Bottom line: It's your wedding and it should be "your day, your way." These kinds of things are important to the bride -- not so much to the groom, who probably will just want you to be happy. You might get some pressure from the family, but I'm guessing he'll back you up on this. I hope you have the best wedding you can imagine.

I thought it was only customary to have your sisters and your fiance's sisters as your bridesmaids, not other female relatives. I've never heard of nieces being included out of tradition. besides- this is your wedding!

You can simply say you've chosen to only have immediate family members as bridesmaids. You can find other duties for the neices, if they're younger. They can hand out favors or disposable cameras at the reception, or sprinkle flower petals on the church aisle before you walk down it.

You are the bride. You can ask whomever you would like. It is your day! If there are too many nieces, I would avoid asking any of them so none feel hurt. Have a happy day!

Yes, you must have all of them at the exclusion of your sisters...it is only fair and proper...and whatever rule book you have in front of you must be obeyed to the letter. Otherwise you may never be well thought-of by his family! Please, forget your sisters and your own desires, but above all, enjoy your special day! ;)
