The plates are mine from an old car that I no longer have. It has been gone for about 10 uyears. Should I just throw the plates away, or should I return them to Motor Vehicle? Will I get in trouble for keeping them so long? Thanks to all who answer.

Hang it in the garage or other room. Keeping old liscense plates won't get you in trouble and they are kinda cool after a couple of years. You could even sell them as vintage on ebay and make some money!

I wouldn't sell them , but they're getting old and will be antiques someday. But you know there are some places that collect license plates. And no you won't get in trouble.

Turn the old plates to your local D.M.V
call 411 for the #
then call the # given to you
and ask them for the mailing address then mail the old licence or simply go down there in person and turn the old licence in.

Return them, no harm will be done. Be a good citizen, or keep them if you plan on getting a second car so you wont have to buy a new plate....Doctor Jae

you'll only get in trouble if you put them on a vehicle that the plates aren't registered to, just destroy them you don't take them back to the DMV they'll laugh at you.

Sell them on E-bay. There's a huge market out there for collecters of old license plates.

Keep them. They'll be antiques one day. As for the DMV, if they haven't asked them yet after 10 years, they don't want them.
