Not with a prepaid debit card. Some banks offer a credit card that requires a cash balance in another account to cover it. They may offer a regular credit card with this type.

Not necessarily. You probably wouldn't have gotten a prepaid card if you could have gotten a credit card. So unless your financial situation has improved, they are unlikely to offer a credit card. And I don't believe a prepaid card really helps your credit profile. Although it might if you never go over your limit and have no bad checks.

In order to get credit you have to have credit.... You need to keep your card you have now.. Prepaid or not, get your credit score up and apply for one that is not secured.... One step at a time.. Don't listen to the other girl on here... Your balance will only be $300.00 OMG... So keep it for 6 months and then check your credit score.... You can also apply with Premier Bank card if your score is above 500.000 800.987.5521- been there and done that

First, what do you mean by 'pre-paid card'. The cards you purchase at a store are usually anonymous. As such, they don't help your credit score. Secured cards are issued by banks after you deposit money into an account as 'security' in case of default. If you pay your bills on time, the bank will offer you a regular card at some point.

Well yes but you are not likely to ever get a decent card with them.
Bank credit is the best to have and are usually easier to get.
If you are not careful you willowe the credit card comany money you never spent. I would try t establish credit a little at a time and not pay credit card companies huge sums just to use your own money to establish credit/

Don't have a credit card period. Cause millions of American's are in debt. SOme of them have a total of 8 credit cards maxed out to the fullest amount. I used to be one of them.
I had the chance to become debt free. Only have car payments left. Than I will be really free off debt. My philosophy now. I will save money, If I want something really bad. And If I do not have it, good than it was not important to buy it anyway.
Remember, Credit Cards make you addicted. Than you are slave towards the creditors. I d rather believe in not owing any money to any one.
