I never leave my kids in the car, period. ^.~ Here in Vegas it is an arrestable offense if you leave you children in the car while you run into the store, even for a second to "buy smokes". Obviously if there is a responsible adult to watch them while they are in the car you can't get in trouble but if you leave them in the car alone you will be arrested. If you can't bring them with you into the store, then don't bring them. What child wants to sit in the car when they could be inside shopping with mommy or daddy. I don't care how bad I know my child will behave, they go with me. ^.~ What happens if while your teen and child are sitting in the car and someone hops in and drives off. The teen can't protect them. If an adult is going to be in the vehicle with the child why not leave them at home with the adult, it's more comfortable at home and you don't have to leave the car idle with the air or heater on while you do your shopping.

If I had a competant, responsible adult or teen available I would leave them at HOME with the kids, not in the car!

I would leave my kids in the car with a responsible adult, because I can go a lot faster if I just run in, get what I need and be done. My kids slow me down because they like to look at stuff, lol...

Noooooooooooooooooo, they come with me. You can't be fearful something will happen to them, and if they cause trouble while you are shopping, put all unnecessary items back and check out immediately, go home and punish the children.
I would never leave my kids in a car, even for a few minutes.

I either take them with me, or leave them at home to have a sleep while their dad watches over them.
I guess if you were just running in for a second, & it wasn't too hot or cold it would be ok. But if you're doing a big shop it could be a bit long for them even with another adult. Really depends on the weather for me.

I would think my child is safer with me at all times.
A couple weeks ago there was a 12 year old girl in a van with a 3 month old and someone got into the van and stole it with the kids inside. He threw the 12 year old out down the street but they didn't find the baby until 10 hours later..

Sometimes it depends on where I'm at and what's going on at that time. If I'm running in for a minuet then I will leave them of course my kids are 8,9,10 and very responsible. I would never leave them in a big city we live in a small rural town.

I have left my son in the van with my mother in law only if he is alseep and I had to run into the grocery store for something. I have never been afraid to take my son anywhere. You cannot fear taking your children somewhere or you will drive yourself crazy.

With an adult, sure why not? If the ac/heat is on and it won't take long-not because he'll misbehave-but sometimes it's quicker to just run in.
