no: effects should not last more than a few hours at best.
Lasting effects more than 8 hours need to be reported to your dentist. Golden seal root is known to cleanse your body of toxins and could be used to remove excess toxins such as the Novocaine: but like I said, it should be gone before you even take the golden seal.

Normally that numbness that you feel goes away in a few hours after the dental work has been done, depending on the amount of anesthetic the dentist has given you, it may last longer. If it lasts for more than 24 hours, I would be concerned & call my dentist. As far as a homemade remedy, there is none that I know of.

Not that I know about, but if you can be numb for 4 or 5 hours, it's a GOOD thing. That is when the pain would be the worst; the first 4 or 5 hours.

Nothing can be done except a needle in the hand to make you drowsy or a needle in the gum. Once the needle is in the hand and you are sedated but you are still awake but a bit like being very drunk and not know what you are doing, i would go for the injection in gum and get it over with quickly, i understand your fear of needles as I had the same fear a long time ago and went to dental hospital for dental hypnotherapy, Good Luck

Novocaine is not used in tooth extractions and tincture of time will cure the numbness.

I usually "work" my jaw to increase blood supply, which dissipates the anaesthesia more swiftly.
