i went to church this last sunday with my wife.(she's mormon) she is going to be having surgery in a week so she wanted to be blessed by her bishop.
so to make her happy i went with her. (i am a pagan)
i was seated with her when the bishop and a few of the priests and told me i had to leave. they noticed that around my neck was a pentagram with a ruby in it called a dragons blood and is a symble with my religion for protection. i explained what i was doing there but they insisted i leave or the police would be called. i went outside to wait for my wife and swore i would never set foot in another christian church again. but my question is what right did this supposed man of god have to do this to me?

it was the first time i had ever been in that church and i only went to make my wife feel better. if she wants to be blessed no matter what i think of it it's o.k. and it can't hurt. and if it makes her feel better about the surgery then it's fine with me.

as far as my wife sticking up for me well i told her to stay and recieve her blessing.
and although i am a very big man i was more than a little embarrassed by the fact that 4 of them had to come and ask me to leave and escort me to the front door like a common criminal.

He was out of line! Plain and simple. It is imperative, no matter what our religion that we behave in a manner becoming our beliefs.
I look at this way, I may be the only Witch a person meets, therefore I have the responsibility to let my actions reflect the path that myself and many others walk.
Hope all goes well for you and Tammy.

Don't blame all Christians or all Christian churches because of the rudeness of a few clerics. That would be unjust. But you are right to be angry at the treatment you received. While the church is private property and the owners had the right to ask you (or anyone else) to leave, you did nothing to disturb the service. Write a letter to the bishop expressing your disappointment and outrage and carbon copy his superior and the local newspaper. I don't think any laws were broken, but it might educate some people about what the pentagram symbolizes for pagans and inspire a few people to think about how they treat visitors.

The Mormon Church is not a Christian Church in that it doesn't accept Jesus Christ as the only Divine Son of God. The man you dealt with was very RUDE for any religion. I'm surprised your wife allowed him to treat you that way.

I wouldn't go to a Christian Church either, i have never felt anything spiritual in that building.

He was wrong, but it is what i would expect from a Mormon Christian priest.

This man needs to learn to follow the creed of his own religion...

"However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act upon them?"
- Buddha -

Many Christians hold the false belief that the pebtagram has satanic implications. If anyone question you just explain the peacefulness of your religion.

Your wife has my best wishes.

first off - i pray your wife will come through the surgery and you both will continue to lead a happy & healthy life.
possibly what you brought into their church scared them and was heartedly against their religion. a pentagram had satanic connotations - by wearing it in their church they may have felt you were bringing evil into a place of holy worship. a man of God is to rebuke satan, all christians are called to rebuke satan and the pentagram is associated with satan.
now this is only my opinion but you asked.... personally they should have at least tried to question you about it first and asked that you put it under your shirt or whatnot. you were there supporting your wife so....

Hmm, I think that any disturbing images or diction to their religion should be kept to a minimum. Though I think they took a step too far. After all, All christians worship a symbol of suffocation and death: The cross. People pinned to the cross don't die of dehydration or blood loss, their lungs fill up with fluid and they die a horrible death similar to drowning. So yeah, they took it a little far. They above all should respect other faiths.

wow!! that's messed up! i'm sorry but if i was your wife, i would not have let them talk to you like that! they have no right to deny you the chance to comfort her in her time of need and i think she should have choosen you over them. moreover, if they were as good as they claim to be, they would not have discriminated against you. If anything they were supposed to talk to you about the word of God and not push you away from the religion.
