For service with the Colours you must be at least 18 years of age and have proof of such, a birth certificate. If you intend to join BritArmy before reaching age 18, you can join as a Junior Leader [boy soldier] from age 16. You will need to be in good health. You will get fit once you join, so if you are not very fit now, do not worry about this. There is, I believe, a written and oral examination plus a very thorough medical examination before entry. To join the BritArmy, you can visit an Army Recruiting Office. There's one in the Strand opposite Charing X station, if you are in London. Otherwise you will find one in the phone book in the nearest large town or city near where you live. Alternatively, you can go to MoD [Army] website and find out more from there. You might like to think about what you want to do in the Army. The BritArmy offers a wide range of trades which you may wish to consider. You will be able to learn a trade if you wish and also study to get a City & Guildes certificate. Trades are available in such as, Royal Signals, Royal Engineers, etc. Check all this out before you sign up to anything. If you've got GCSE's or A-levels you must consider the trade route to a military career. If you have better than A-levels, a degree, you should consider taking a commission [becoming an officer]. Think carefully about what you want to do. Write it all down on paper and go through it. Bring your parents in on your plans. If you have anyone in your family who has had military experience, speak to them, even if they are [like me] old.

You need to be a british citizen. If you sit the test and get a good score then you can earn more bucks!! I was a Radio Telegraphist in the Royal Signals and the pay band was quite high, plus the job satisfaction was good. If you are 16 you will need to join as a Junior leader and complete 6 months of basic training. If you are older then you will complete 12 weeks. THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!!

They'll take anyone! I think you're better off join the RAF or Navy, although the RAF is a bit stricter in who they take in. Also depends what you're joining as - you need to get trained up on something that you could use on civvy street when /if you leave. There's no point in joining the Army, learning to drive a tank, then leaving and not being able to get a job any where.

im 4 foot 11 and 3/4 i know this because as a teen i tried to join each of the armed services and was too short for any of them (they measured my hieght and wouldn't let me stand on tip toes) including the navy for subamarine duty where they use the shortest available people so hieght is an issue (5 foot 2 was the minimum hieght at the time), for the army infantry it helps to be over 5 foot 8 (you dont have to be but it will make life easier) and of reasonable build to meet the demands of carrying your weapon and gear
