I'm a sophmore in high school, but I'm trying to get a thumb on what field of engineering I want to get into. Thanks!

Well depends upon what you find exciting/rewarding.

For me, the lifestyle of being a civil engineer was appealing. Civil engineers can help purify water in foreign coutries. They can help build structures and infastructure to underdeveloped countries. They can be in a government or private job. Civil engineers can find a job in almost any size town without a significant paycut.

On the other hand, Chemical engineers get to delve beyond Newtonian physics and make the most money. They are more involved with high-tech industries.

Mechanical engineers are probably the most rounded of engineers. However as a ME, your more likely to do a desk job, in my opinion.

I suggest figuring out which lifestyle you are interested in and then deciding.

In my opinion, mechanical engineering. I am a little biased though.

As a mechanical engineer you can work in a plant as a manufacturing engineer or even work for a large company as a design engineer. I just feel that the possibilities for a mechanical engineer are wide open.

That depends largely on the person. Mechanical engineering is great for some electrical for others.
