yes they attach themselves to the hair root and bite along the root to 'eat' that is why a persons head is so itchy when they have lice.

Defanatly doesn't sound right maybe you could talk to the 8 year old the signs for neglect are ...... Doesn't know how to act around people even close people or people he / she sees daily ... Always has ilnesses , constantly looking for attention meaning hugs picking up even from strangers , could have rashes , always avoids talking about home , gets upset easily , and thanks people a lot even for things you should have anyway like compliments , help with work ect. xx

Definitely. They bite your head which is what makes it so itchy. I caught them from my niece when she started nursery school. As we're so close,she shared them with me ! I nearly died when I had to ask in the chemist's for a bottle of solution.
