CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — A man was arrested in the gruesome dragging death of a woman after a stained and tattered photograph of him was found at the crime scene, police said Wednesday.

Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, 36, was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of murder and jailed without bail. Investigators said they were still trying to identify the victim, who was dragged behind a vehicle with a rope, leaving a trail of blood more than a mile long.

Authorities did not immediately respond to questions about how the photograph ended up near the woman's body, which was discovered Monday in a suburban neighborhood about 20 miles south of Denver.

The photo had been released to the public, and Sheriff Dave Weaver said tips from citizens helped lead to the arrest, but he did not elaborate.

Weaver offered no motive for the killing.

The picture shows a couple who appear to be in their 30s, with the man leaning his arm on the woman's shoulder. Investigators did not say whether the woman in the picture was the victim.

Neighbors discovered the woman's body before dawn. Her face was unrecognizable and an orange tow rope was around her neck, said Nancy Foley, who lives nearby.

An autopsy indicated the woman died of asphyxiation and head injuries from being dragged.

The trail of blood led from Interstate 25 to the woman's body, which was found on a street lined with large ranch-style homes on spacious lots. On Wednesday, highway crews spreading fresh tar over the roads to cover the traces of blood.

And to think that if the borders were truly closed, that woman would still be alive and that beast would be committing his crimes in Mexico where at least the Mexican government would have to be dealing with him and paying for him, instead of the citizens of the USA.

Once upon a time in the Old West, dragging someone to death was one way to exact vengeance, it bears keeping in mind that
many of the illegals are turning up to be from native american tribes, don't even speak spanish, that kind of thing...in some ways, north america is still 'indian country', apparently.
If the guy DOES turn out to be an illegal alien, it'll be more fuel for the fire behind finishing the border fence...

I read that story and was sicken by the details ,that's inhuman to treat any one that way.The pure horror she must have felt before she died would be indescribable.
I don't care if he was an alien from Mars he needs to be tried for this terrible murder, and get the death penalty..I feel so sorry for this poor woman.

My news channel said that he was illegal. Why not militarize the border to stop illegals? Because Americans commit crimes?

Now I understand why this is a war America cannot afford to lose.

As if there wasn't enough reasons to end illegal alien support. I hope that the Vitim's family and friend get some closer to the madness. Absolutely unnecessary and way over the top.

Just another "hard working illegal wanting a better life", right?

He's a piece of garbage and we need to get rid of all illegals. Period.
