Chrysler T&C 18k (Base model) Vs Sienna 22k (Base model). 4K difference is a lot. Toyota more reliable than Chrysler.

Toyota Sienna. I worked at an independent repair shop for a couple of years before going to a Toyota dealership. Chrysler vans have problems with transmissions going, rack & pinions leaking and/or clunking, front sway bar end links breaking/inner sway bar bushings wearing out prematurely, and brake lines rusting though (cheap metal). I've also seen quite a few with the climate controls not working intermitantly and low oil pressure problems. Those are just off the top of my head since I haven't worked on any recently.

Most times when a Sienna comes into work its for maintence or a check engine light on. Usually the gas cap is not on tight or a vacuum hose poped off of the air filter box when someone was checking the filter. They did have a problem for a bit with the rear brakes squealing at low speeds so they came out with an updated rear drum design. That was on older models though and the updated brake drums are already on the new models.

Hope this helps!

Toyota.

All it takes is for the Chrysler to have one major problem and you've made up the difference that, currently, you can pay for over the term of the loan... if you lose a transmission at 1 mile of the warranty on the Chrysler you've got to pay all at once.

And you'll get twice as many miles out of the Toyota so if you plan to keep it until the wheels fall of then it's an even easier decision.

Toyota. I had a dodge minivan that in 5 years I put 6 transmissions in. Then a Pontiac Montana that the electronic in the transmission cost $1200 to repair. The Montana forced me into bankruptcy. Never again a U.S. Car. U.S. cars are made with chinese parts and made in Mexico.

Yes, 4k is a big difference, and it can be even more if you consider rebates. My in laws had a Dodge caravan for 9 years and they made 180k miles, no problems.
