i saw this news program about 1 guy who actually did it and 2 other guys who tried some other way but failed.. they are trying to remove there own arms and/ legs.. they said they would live a happier life does any one know more about this?

I saw somethng bout that too. yea, the guys didnt want their legs or something so they put them in freezing cold water for a long time and nummed them then cut them off or somethin. Yea then later wen one guy didnt hav legs he said he regretted doing it all and said he was really sick at that time. weird, I kno?!?

Yeah, I saw this. It is some rare mental illness for a serious desire to be an amputee. These people will stop at nothing to become amputees. They interviewed some people who did it and one who tried but she could not stand the pain of immersing her legs in the liquid nitrogen for so long and ended up with mangled legs instead of having them amputated so she was disappointed!! Wow, there sure is more to the human mind that we could know for sure!

Yes, I saw that....it's some sort of disorder where people actually desire to have "ghost limbs" or something. Was it the same one where there was that guy who actually tucked his real leg up with an ace bandage and tied his pant leg up so people thought that he only had one leg? That was just weird. They feel like they were meant to lose an appendage and they just never got "lucky" enough or something. I totally forgot about that...I saw that show like, three years ago or something.

I've heard of it, it's a real disorder that people have. Wanted to remove their arms, legs, etc. I think I saw it on Dateline or something. So very bizarre.

yeah, i saw an article on people who have a mental problem that makes them want to lose limbs to be handicapped. but liquid nitrogen would pose a problem in touching the frozen limb to remove it, i would think.

Ive also heard of this being done, why they do it i dont know i guess they like the thought of being limbless in someway, kinda weird but yeah it can be done and has been done..

I saw that. Strange, isn't it? I think it's an inner desire for attention that they didn't get at one time, but that's just my opine..who knows.
