Jealousy and covetness are 2 different things. If u covet your neighbor's wife, that means you want her, but it doesn't mean you're jealous of her hubby.
Gd doesn't covet anything, bt as a jealous Gd, he's jealous of all other gds.

when humans covet, they covet something that they do not deserve and it is not theirs. Also the motivation for the desire counts. coveting is defined as:
1. to desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others: to covet another's property.
2. to wish for, esp. eagerly
3. to have an inordinate or wrongful desire.
but for god to be jealous, i think he means that in the sense that he does not want us to worship someone/something else and we are his creation. so i guess he has a right to be jealous of who we worship.
hope that helps

Defination for covet-A primitive root; to wish for: - covet, (greatly) desire, be desirous, long, lust (after).
Defination for Jealous- (have) desire, (move with) envy, be jealous over, (be) zealous (-ly affect).
God does not want us to want what others have, for ourselves. God being our creator, has the right to not want us to worship another god, especially since other gods had nothing to do with our being created and have done nothing for us. God is the Almighty divine sovergn God. He is number one and should be treated with respect for it.
Ask yourself what has other gods done for your salvation?? Nothing! That question you asked was put in your head by satan to weaken your faith and cause you to fall away from God. Dont' fallf or it. If you dont understand something, pray about it, and turn to this scripture..
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

I BELIEVE that God is Saying that HE Does not want to "share" any worship. (another way to say this is NOT to bow down to False idols.)
Coveting is to desire what another person has. (i.e. if a friend has an HD TV, and you want one soooo much too).
I consider these two different things, and they are NOT contradictory.

If there really is no other God and God's children are so stupid to worship a pagan, or false god, why in the hell wouldn't the true God be jealous or mad!? It makes sense to me.....It's kind of like giving thanks to the wrong person......Like thanking your school teacher for raising you when your parents were the ones who actually did it.
G0w} D$#@! Why are you so F^%$ing Stupid!?

All I can say is that God is without sin...... One good example is that Jesus showed anger in the temple when he cleared the money changers away.... He did this without sinning... We can be assured that God is not sinning when he is jealous.... But if a man covets his neighbor's house or wife, man is sinning.

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’* This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’* All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Mat 22:37-40

I love watching irrational people trying to rationalize the irrational.
