There is a lot of abuse flowing in the direction of Islam on account of the fundamentalist wing of the religion - looking at Christian fundamentalism - its opposition to science (ID/IC et al) - its push into world affairs (the support by End of the WOrld crowd for the Judaic right wings attempt to destroy the Blue Mosque and rebuild the Temple of Solomon) and its growing influence in the most interventionist US government ever (Bush) - is there not a reasonable argument the Christianity represents a greater threat to democracy, personal freedom and world peace than Islam or any other religion?

AMEN!!!!!!! finally someone with an open mind!!!
i agree with every word you said, the christian right wing in the US is DEFINITELY the biggest threat to the world. the back lash of the Muslim world is only a reaction to the war waged at them.
you have no idea what kind of provocations the west and Israel keep doing to the Muslim world and with all the insults aimed at them and their faith along with the oppression of their governments who are certainly American puppets, it's very understandable that people go to the extreme because they have nothing to live for except what's left in their dignity.
the US has plans to break down the middle east and it's in America's best interested that they be divided. the US knows damn well that if the Arabs unite they will be a huge threat and a competition for the world super power. ever since the first world war, the west has made it it's priority to divide the Arab world using the age old method " divide and conquer" and it's working.
but not for too long! the Arabs started the get fed up and we have started to see the consequences of that. too much radicalism and it's only a beginning.
GOD help us all.

I agree with you about Christianity---the Evangelicals are scary. I'd prefer Islam any day to them. Islam makes much more sense than Christianity does, as religions go.
Question? Why would they destroy the Blue Mosque (in Istanbul) to rebuild the Temple (in Jerusalem)?
The last Temple was the Temple of King Herod. And, no sane Jew would destroy The Dome of the Rock and AL Aqsa Mosque to rebuild the Temple. To destroy one holy place to build another would be a grave affront in the eyes of G-d. It would take a Christian to do this.
Evangelical Christians do pose a bigger threat than Islam ever would. And, Bush is one of them. Thank goodness only two more years of this religious fanatic.

No right wing Christian fundamentalism is not the new Islam, it is just another form of Zionism. Remember that both Christianity and Islam are just sects within the Jewish faith( they are all based on the teaching of Abraham)
At least with Christianity and Judaism you do not have to convert or die.
Remember you all follow the same God and I guess he will deal with you who have killed his followers in his own way, I suggest you all stop preaching hate and try and respect each other.
As for me I just continue being a happy pagan

Being a Sikh I believe each and every religion is on an equal par, all worship the one and only, accept we give the supreme power various names, its not the religion that causes trouble, its the PEOPLE who follow the religion that causes mayhem. Cause no hurt to others, and others wont cause any hurt to you.

Christianity was here before Islam. Islam denies the Christian foundational truths. Therefor it is Antichrist. It prevents people from coming to Jesus & His amazing Grace.
Many of the Islamic mosques were built over Jewish Temples or Christian Churches. When they took over teritory, they took over churches & temples.
There isn't religious freedom in Islam. It is won by the sword. So kill others for their religious power.
The Christian Sword is the Spoken Word of God. It is the Sword of Truth.

Genuine Christian Fundementalists dont oppose or support science.
The perversion of Christianity towards these goals is fringe christianity not fundamentalism.
Islamic Fundamentalism with all its unpalatable practices and features does however come from the heart of Islam.
Christian Fundamentalism is Love God, Love thy neighbour, Man hath no greater love than he lays down his life to save his brother,
Islamic Fundamentalism is women are second or third class citizens and you should wipe your backside with your Left hand, (Christians generally use Bog Roll)

No.
Christianity was around for years before Islam was even thought of
The difference between Christian fundamentalists and Islamic fundamentalists is that the Christian ones don't KILL PEOPLE.
Democracy only exists because of the philosophical ideas generated by Christianity.

Actually, Islam and Christianity are like the new Judism.
Basically, All three religions worship the same being, who is God. Jews however don't believe that Jesus was the messiah when he came, so that made christians who do believe, to split from them. As for Islam, that was just a random event where Muhammid whote the Koran and Jews split apart yet again to become Islamic.

You are a wonderful source of summarization, tying all sorts of the ills of society with Christianity.
An atheist was responsible for the deaths of 20,000,000 people, and he made similar sweeping statements about the world of his time...his name was Josef Stalin. Can you answer this generalization?
