Rocky was the most fiercely determined fighter to ever step in a ring and had great power in either hand. He was very durable and strong and could take a punch. Sonny who was much bigger than the Rock had a good jab and great power too. Sonny though a bigger man than Rocky would not dominate him the way he done Patterson as Patterson did not have Rocky's power or chin. In this fight Rocky would get inside of Sonny's jab and work over his body like nobody ever did. Liston would land jabs and some hard punches but Rocky with his determination would not stop coming inside and would eventually wear down Liston and knock him out in the 10th round of a good fight, Liston never met a fighter that hit as hard as Marciano. Good question Brent F..

Liston - W 50 (KO's 39) TF 54 - W pct 93% - KO pct 72% - wins over Patterson, "Big Cat" Williams and Folley - KO'ed by Ali{2} and L. Martin (average fighter) - #15 ranked puncher - #71 ranked fighter
Marciano - W 49 (KO's 43) TF 49 - W pct 100% - KO pct 88% - wins over Walcott{2}, Louis, Moore and Charles[2] - KO'ed by none - #14 ranked puncher - #12 ranked fighter
Retired undefeated as champion and as a fighter
He was smart enough to remain retired (super kudos)
Marciano was a sometime bleeder and Liston was a sometime quitter. Both of these fighters are going to come forward with both hands blazing. In this fight Marciano is cut but he is used to tasting his blood. We can not say the same thing for Liston. As the referee goes to Marciano's corner to advise him that he only has 1 or 2 rds left because of his cuts, Liston quits in his corner at the end of rd 10.

Marciano never really Face a Fighter who Punches as hard as Liston.
Marciano's Record is Overrated, he may be undefeated but he got dominated by JJ Walcot befor he landed that Equalizer in the 13th round. that knock Joe Cold.
Marciano is tailor made for liston, he is small heavyweight, who stands in front of you. While Liston in his prime has a very good Left Jab and a very good Chin. The prime Cassius Clay have To run around the ring to Beat the monster Called Liston.
Liston 12th round TKO

This is the toughest of these yet. I won't even try to call it. You could downplay the competition each of them fought (though as old as he was Jersey Joe was still a very competent fighter) but you can't downplay either one's power or determination.
I'm gonna give the nod to Rocky for beating Jersey Joe in their first fight, I'm not so sure Liston would have been able beat THAT Jersey Joe. But the reality is it's a fight that could have gone either way. This is probably one of THE all time dream heavyweight matchups.

Rocky Marciano because look at his fighting style he went for the arms and tired the guy out twice as fast also if you retire with the only undefeated record in history and he fought Ali who is arguably the greatest boxer of all time and he embarrassed him

Could honestly be Marciano, but I'll have to go with Liston the way he took apart Floyd Patterson.

I would guess Marciano, he was a greater fighter then Liston with a stronger will to win!

It would be a very good fight, many say that Rocky would win look at his record. BUT who did he fight, a bunch of bums and a old Joe Louis who he almost lost to. I would give it to Liston he had lots of challenges in his day.
