It dries out your hair a bit, but there are some very good mostuizing shampoos and conditioners that can revitalize it:) No worries, I've had several perms and made it through them.

I wouldn't get a perm. I got a perm a year ago and I HATED it!. Your hair won't be the same even if you try to straighten it. It will be frizzy and dull. I'm still waiting for it to grow out. I have like 3 or 4 more inches left until the perm is all cut out.
If you do decide to get a perm, make sure its with a really good stylist. Don't go somewhere cheap. This is your hair and the perm will last for a long time so don't skimp and go to a cheap place to get it done. Also, INSIST that only 1 person dos the perm. Two people did mine and one girl pulled tighter so one side of my head was curlier than the other. It sucked! So luckily its almost all gone. So just make sure that just one person works on your hair even if it takes twice as long. If they complain about the time then go someplace else!

I wouldn't get a perm again but its up to you.

You need to take these questions into consideration:
Is your hair colored?........then make sure its a color safe perm, it may alter the color
Is your hair thin or thick?.....theres a perm for both, lighter, thinner hair is delicate
Is your hair naturally straight or wavy?......the intensity of the solution matters, if its really straight, it may not take or last long
Is it being done professionally or home perm? this makes a big difference!
Finally, if you do get one, enjoy it......Be sure you have the patience to deal with chemically treated hair!
Sometimes curly hair is easier to fix. Bad side, sometimes its not!!!!!!! Speaking from experiance!!!!!!!Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

It definitely damages your hair. Usually when you go in to get a perm, the hairdresser will make sure that your hair is in good enough condition to get a perm. I got one and loved it! But it damaged my hair and now all I can do is wait for it to grow out. It still looks good I just straigten it... it was worth it but yes it does damage

Perming hair is a chemical process. Any chemical process damages hair. If you really don't need to tame your hair...leave it alone. There are plenty of products on the market to treat hair without damage. Most people regret getting perms, myself included.

Yup. Permenants use chemicals to change the texture of your hair. It will damage it. If you have colour in your hair, it might even react funny. Go to a salon if you really want a perm and get someone who is experienced to do it!
