I wouldn't think it was possible to do so. If you love someone then nothing could ever change that.(with very few exceptions, if they committed murder, rape, so on aand so forth.)
I understand the idea of wanting to get over someone, but I would never want to fall out of love with anyone. My reasons for this are simple.
1st: Is that something great about that person made you fall in love in the first place and that would be worth keeping close to my heart.
2nd: Is because the love you feel for this person will eventually help you to love even stronger and harder when the next person arrives.
3rd: Is simply because I would know that love is very sharp (like a handful of needles) when its fresh and new but as time goes along it wears down to a smooth surface like that of a table top. Its then that you can look back at your love and examine it for what it really was and is.
I have been married for nine years now and I still feel a love for a few of my exes. I've talked to my wife about this and she understands. You may ask if I would ever leave my wife for either of these gals if the opportunity would arise and the answer is a resounding NO. Actually it did come up with one of them and I choose my wife again. At least with her I'm still holding them sharp needles.
Good luck and God bless. Hope this helps.

WELL IT HAS BEEN 16 MONTHS AND IM JUST GETTING TO WERE I AM LIVING INSTEAD OF JUST FUNCTIONING, AND IT WAS ALL BECAUSE I WAS IN LOVE WITH A MAN THAT NO LONGER WAS IN LOVE WITH ME. I heard something once. Maybe you have too. At any rate I'll repeat it. Goes like this.
Love is like a weed. Difficult to get rid of. But if you try hard enough, you can kill it.
Or another one-
It's easier to fall out of love than it is to fall out of stupid.

Maybe not necessarily fall out of love
but forget... or keep it sleeping by not exposing yourself to things that remind you of your previous love.. until time heals most of your wounds...

You can't - BUT - start by accepting your feelings, putting yourself first in all decisions you make - and live your life for you, Good Luck!

You ask:
- Can people separate themselves from politics/religion to base their judgment on common sense instead?
Rocinante ask me: what is Eileen S judgment on common sense?
I answer: She does herself fall OUT of love with someone.
Amazedness
Now Rocinante is dumb.

Just DON'T CARE anymore
I’m sure that this question been asked and answered like 500 times already? Why do we have to endure reading these repetitive recycled moronic questions? Is there some contest going on to see how many times the Answers community can ask the same idiotic question?

You sure can. Their ruthless actions can cause you to fall out of love with them, and make it impossible to fall back "in" with them.

love is like a garden. if you tend it, feed it, care about it, it grows. If you leave it alone (not spend time stirring up feelings or memories, no more investments or just neglect) it will diminish
