I was so gutted tonight to learn that he was involved in an accident. I am wondering whether Top Gear should seriously calm down their antics now. He is such a great guy. What do you think?

By the way...I love watching top gear and I think they are all great. I think they have great jobs living out their boyhood dreams. I just don't want it to ever go too far. I hope he is OK.

Top Gear is worth the licence fee alone. And as the butt of the jokes Richard Hammond helps to make it. Love him in braniac too. Chins up guys I'm sure he'll pull through

I truly hope he gets well as he is a top man and good presenter.
At the end of the day Top Gear is Top Gear and they know what makes a good programme for the viewers. Telling them to stop would be like telling all the great adventures to stop looking and searching for what ever. You cant stop or should not stop progress and before I get shouted down it was his job he knew the risks as they all do. Every day is a risk for all of us Steve Errwin knew the risks but look at what he showed us and taught us.
I wish him well and a speedy recovery and my thoughts are with him, family and friends.

Couldn't agree more, it's awful that this has happened, but he's an inteligent bloke and knew the risks of driving a rocket car at 300mph on a 2 mile strip of tarmac. If he hadn't have had the accident we would have all thought wow, great TV and then put it in the back of our minds waiting for the following weeks stunt.

I hope he puuls through as he brightens up the world of cars and TV.

Really hope they don't tone down the show, but I expect the series due to start in October will be put on hold for a while.

If someone had said to me 'Would you like to get in this car and drive very fast?' I would have said a very big YES! I haven't met anyone yet to says they would have said no.

My guess is Richard's crash will have been caused by debris on the runway leading to tyre blowout, just like Concorde a few years ago.

Yes they should calm down on what they do. I personally think they should show cars within a normal persons budget as well and not test drive Merc's, Bentleys etc. Hope he fully recovers. He is a brilliant presentor on Top Gear and Brainiac.

Ahh, I love Richard Hammond! Hope he's OK, flipping over a rocket powered car at 280mph cant be that good for you tho! But hey, driving is something he loves, is good at and gets paid vast amounts of money for. Any of us can have an accident at work.

I'm feeling a bit sad for him. As for the rocket powered car, isn't it just the natural cycle of telly and the media in general to push the envelope that bit further each time? Very sad.
