My friends and I are huge soccer fans and wanted to join a league. The closest league to us is at least 45 minutes away without traffic.
We are really interested in getting a team going and having some fun playing the game.
Any suggestions?

We honestly don't know much of the rules of the game. We know the major concept, from High School Gym and the like.
So, we need a coach.
Is there anyone interested, who lives in the tri-state area. (NYC, NJ)
We also need some more players...

Start with contacting the league that is 45 minutes away. Tell them your interests, who you have available to join, and see if they can merge you into the games against other players.
Should this go through, and you still need more players ... post signs up at school, the gym, and grocery store. Have fun ... I'm way to far away to join, and soccor isn't my grace either - Giggle, you'd be amused at watching me try though - Giggle.

you will have to travel if you really want to play, my daughter plays for a soccer team and has to travel between 1/2 an hour to 3 hours every week as do the rest of the team, but its worth it, you will all have a great time, join the league today and start playing the best game in the world, good luck, also its heaps better if you get a good coach

if the closest league is 45 minutes away, you could always get a group of friends and playing some pick-up at a nearby park. you can use cones, bags, or pugs for goals. i've done this before and as time has gone more and more people come to play and it just ends up as a great day of playing soccer. just have people alternate wearing dark or light shirts.
