That is just the way that your dog is. You should accept her for who she is. Why does she have to be tough? She's a King Charles Spaniel. If you wanted a tough dog you might have chosen another breed.
You may be able to make her less skittish if that is her problem by taking her to obedience classes and introducing her to new situations.

King Charles Spaniels are not meant to be tough. They are companion dogs. Dogs meant to lay in your lap & lick you & love you. Not rough & tough. You want a dog who can be rough & tough, get a German Shephard or Rottweiler.
I certainly hope you aren't trying to make a dog aggressive. That's just plain wrong!!

If you mean how to make her bold and confident, you do that by training her for obedience so that she trusts you and acknowledges you as leader. You should also expose her to lots of new sights and sounds and experiences. This should always be done in a way that makes her feel safe. Soon she will be a confident and strong dog, capable of doing anything that you ask of her.
If by your question you mean how do you make her MEAN, then we don't want to help you ruin your dog.

You don't want an aggressive dog it is good that your dog is layed back . At least the dog will get along with others. Our female that we are trying to place never use to be aggressive but now she is alpha and it isn't the greatest because she has to dominate over other dogs.

You can't. That's just who she is.
You can't exactly toughen up a dog because she's a wimp. Deal with it. Learn to laugh. She's never going to be a fighter, but you can embrace her ways and move on with your life and ENJOY her.

Why would you want to make her tough? She is just not an aggressive dog and you probably cant change that.

get a different dog...its the bread, thats just they way they are...your a guy are you? and shes a girl leave her alone...have fun with her...shes not a wimp shes just sensitive...
