pictures of small dogs are available everywhere online, you can check nextdaypets.com or dogchannel.com for information and pictures of small breeds. Depending on the breed of the dog they can be just as affectionate or tempermental as big dogs. Chihuhuas for example are the smallest healthy dog. but they don't know how small they are have no problem attacking even the biggest of dogs.
Other small dogs like the Yorkies, Dachunds, and terriers look like they would be lap dogs, when they're infact meant to be hunting dogs. They are extremely active dogs and require an active owner.
Yet other small dogs are exactly as lazy and little as they look, such as maltese, toy poodles, etc. but often they become dominant, badly behaved dogs (actually all small dogs have this possiblity) because their owners treat them like they are children, picking them up when they see big dogs, soothing them when they bark(thus enforcing the behavior and making them a yappy dog), not disciplining them whenever they jump up, letting them nip(which turns into biting), and carrying them everywhere instead of letting them be dogs and walk...All small dogs need some excercise, but a lot less than bigger dogs.
a huge advantage of having a small dog is having the ability to keep them in a small apt(not recommending terrier breeds), and litterbox training them if you work long hours.
I hope i helped!!!

Any small terrier breed could have hair somewhat of fur. for that reason no laying off. Temperament with childrens is from journey and ordinary to tell. pass to a shield and ask the attendant for advice.
