No, but I've learned some Christians are complete fools who let their religion down.

No. My faith remains strong. I'm saddened to hear that others have faltered.

I'm also saddened to see so many atheistic thoughts and opinions presented so callously as if I can't think for myself just because I believe in God. Everyone ought to think long and hard about where there beliefs come from. I keep hearing that we only believe because we were led by the hand and were too stupid to question it. When actually, if anything, I have been force fed non-religious, atheistic beliefs throughout my schooling. And it is pretty much everywhere I look.

I am an electrical engineer who can think logically, scientifically, and rationally. And, I still believe in God. Don't tell me it is because I am ignorant and uneducated.

I respect your right to believe in nothing. I'm sure most of you are intelligent enough to make up your own mind. To not afford us the same courtesy, is just rude, ridiculous, and downright mean.

Yeah...that'll never happen!

If the leaders of the church cannot convince me then I am certainly not going to be swayed by the great illiterate mass of sheeple spouting "only Jesus saves so burn in hell heathen".

I have not seen one single intelligent argument put forth from a christian that aims to educate the atheist, though there are plenty of insane ramblings and bible quoting that aims to condemn my soul. The christians are the most unchristian of all!

I was raised in a christian household, I went to Sunday school and church and I have a well worn, well read bible and I have studied other religions- I know what I am talking about. Bible belt Americans are generally clueless to the world around them.

This site made me have conversations with people different than my culture..I'm Muslim and had very good conversations with Atheists, Christians, gays and many people different from what I am or what I believe..It is positive as it helped me to correct the false image givin by Bin Laden and the media about my religion to many people here and I gave some usefull advices to people I don't know personally in many issues including health and diseases too..
But never changed my mind about my own faith.

I first got here right here years in the past whilst i replaced into interior the flexibility of de-changing from Christianity. I had given up on the theory that human beings had any clue approximately God, yet theory that he nevertheless *had* to be genuine. I found my first rational arguments for atheism... numerous years later, i'm no longer prepared to declare i be attentive to a hundred% there is not any god or bigger being... yet i believe very, very beneficial there is not any YHWH God. So specific, Y!A (and my own reasoning) helped me. Any purely for the record, we would be non violent... yet we don't stand around waiting to get hit the two. ;)

My Highest Power has shown me, that when we talk to others,
they say we're full of it, and crazy, and you're worrying, it'll
never work, etc, etc. And two days later, you'll hear them telling
someone else the same thing you told them.
Forget about the pride, the recognition. If you really want to help,
and feel you have something to offer. Even if you need to
develope the skills to express it. Get it out there!
Plant the seeds for thought. And know your Higher Power will do the watering.

Yes! I came here a month or so ago thinking it would be a good place to engage in dialogue with Muslims and atheists as an open-minded Christian of goodwill.

Here's what happened! I met some wonderful Muslims who confirmed what I always had believed in my heart about them...that they are just like you and me...that they are no more or less of a threat than the christians. There are many who are focused on peace and goodwill among people, just like me.

I met some atheists and agnostics here too. I determined I would meet sarchasm, and insults with kindness and openness to an honest discussion. I discovered some of these people to be among the most intellegent and loving I have ever had the pleasure to meet and I became more and more curious about what they had to say and actually began to listen! Imagine it!

I met a few sweet christian brothers and sisters. I share my background with them and I understand their hearts easier than the others. I also saw much in myself to be both proud of and ashamed of by listening to them. I began to search within myself to figure out where the problems lie and found there were some real snags in christianity...snags that kept us from really being free to Love the way Jesus did. (Of course we had developed a great system for defending ourselves against criticism of this).

Two weeks ago I took a daring step of faith. I decided to trust my own heart and believe what Jesus and others taught about unselfish Love being our deepest heart's desire and the only path that would bring us all together. This is a departure from religion because religion locks us up in obvious and subtle ways in Fear, which is Love's opposite.

So yes, Y!A was a springboard for a new way of seeing life and my place in it.

May you all find peace and Love.

...and to "wow" may I ask why you are sad? Why would it make you sad for me to embrace a faith based on the selfless love of Jesus? Christianity preached it but could not deliver it because of the enherent fear traps (you're politely trying to guilt me into to one of them now, aren't you my friend). I understand. Been there, done that.

God is Love and we need not fear.

Well, I come on here because it makes my faith stronger and because it's good to know what you're talking about (especially when it comes to religion). It forces me to think about my answers and to really make sure it's understandable to people of all kinds of different religions...so it hasn't changed my mind about anything but it is good practice for me.
