The mobile home is in a trailer park on a lot. Are we liable for the property taxes even with the trailer not in our name yet?

No, you don't own the property.

Property taxes would apply to the land (IE the trailer park) not the trailers parked on it. You can bet the owner of the park is recovering the property taxes as part of the rent he is charging.

It depends on what your rent to own contract of sale says. You are usually not liable until the sale has been completed. Read the fine print.

Read your rental agreement - whatever it says is what you signed up for.
