You can try the YWCA, International House or Youth Hostel, but $50 per night for a family of 4 is really unrealistic for Manhattan.
You might find a cheaper hotel in Queens or Brooklyn which are accessible by subway or bus.

There are some motels you can grab for less, but a hotel in Manhattan is pricey.

Seriously, if you can only afford $50.00 per night for lodging I would stay home or pick another destination.
