It's called kneading. That's what cats do. That and purring. He's just comfortable with her. They do that before they go to sleep.

It's called kneading and it stems from kittenhood. Kittens knead on their mothers bellies to help get milk from the nipple. An adult cat does it simply because it's comforting. Much like a human who never grows out of sucking their thumb.

He's just kneading. My cats do it all the time. It just means that he's bonded with her, and like other folks up here have mentioned it's a throwback to nursing from its mother.
My cats do that all the time, usually when they're purring and feeling lovey. The younger one (a siamese mix) likes to do it while he sucks on my hair. He gets kind of frantic about it if I try to dissuade him. Weird, I know...

"This behavior is a throw-back to when they were kittens, nursing their mom. Kneading on their mothers tummy, helped the milk come down, and it is a "comfort" thing for them. Sort of like a baby with a pacifier... it gives them comfort. It is an honor for your cat to choose you to knead on."
My cats do it all the time. It's kind of soothing if they don't stick their nails in you.

I call it "making biscuits." It goes back to when they were kittens, they would do that to get milk out of the mom cat as they fed. It's a comfort to them, and the kitty is just plain happy to be around your wife.

He loves her....... My kitties do that too and they are 6 and 7 years old. I call it making bread. The young one does it to my hair and the 7 year old who is all black and weighs 28 pounds lays on my pillow and rubs his nose in my ear. SO HILARIOUS!!!!!
It is their way of loving you and it comforts them.

He's kneading her. (Just getting comfy on her belly) before he lays down. Most cats do it.
