j_d_l_ Tea tree oil is absolutely TOXIC for cats. Never use it in any form.

Comb, comb, comb is the best solution. And a bath in any mild shampoo or dishwashing soap. You do not need a special "flea" shampoo. The fleas drown and you don't have to put toxic pesticides on your kitten.

Get Advantage or some other topical treatment from your vet. He/she will tell you when the kitten is old enough to use it. Do not get any over-the-counter treatments for this first time. After the vet has given you the dosage and told you it is OK for the kitten you can go online to find the most inexpensive way to purchase it. It has to be applied monthly to the cat's body.

Yes there is I asked the same questions about 1 month ago check this out.Best Answer - Chosen by Asker I have used 'Over the counter" and they aren't as good (or as stong) as the ones you get from the vet. There are some websites that sell Atvantage, Frontline, and Atvantix too so you might look them up. Make sure your house is flea free though or they will be reinfested. here's how to keep it flea free. IF YOUR HOUSE HAS FLEAS…. I have a NATURAL remedy for getting rid of fleas in your house. Go to the Store and buy some 20 Mule Team BORAX. Then sprinkle it all over. Carpets, couch, bedding, pillows, pet beds, car, even wood floors. (NOT ON YOUR PET!) THEN VACCUME IT UP. What Boax does is coats the eggs ... The eggs hatch deformed or unable to reproduce. You will have to do this 2 or 3x about a week apart in order to get all the egg cycles. FOR YOUR PET. Use the flea killer that is on the market or use a flea comb (this is also a head lice comb) especially for kittens or puppys who are too young to have insecticide put on them. Kill the fleas that you find on the comb with soap or alcohol

I have two cats and I had the exact same issue with one of mine, she had fleas so bad that she wouldn't go near any form of carpet or blanket. flea collars can dry their skin out, the drops can irratate the skin, the tablets like frontline and the likes are expensive but they do work.

I actually tried mixing a raw egg in with her food (if it's a kitten use just a little bit) at least once a week. there's something in a raw egg that fleas don't like. I also would sprinkle a little tiny bit of seasoning salt on her food. It seemed to work pretty well and I didn't have to worry about all the harsh flea drops/collar issues.

so talk to your vet and maybe try a few homiopathic remedies and hopefully that'll work!

Dawn dishwashing detregent. My sister found 3 week old kittens and called the vet, She said it was too young to be treated for fleas. Just wash the kittens in Dawn dish washing soap.
She took the kittens to the animal shelter because she didn't want 5 kittens and told them the kittens had fleas. They said " No problem ,We wash kittens under 8 weeks old in Dawn."
It actually works. But you have to use Dawn not any other. You also have to do it for 3 days. .I have tried it and the first day 90% of the fleas died , After 3 days they were free of fleas.Squirt it on the kitten and rub it in.Don't just do it like you are washing dishes.

Well...a good flea shampoo will get rid of most of the fleas.
A lot of fleas stay in your carpet, so you might want to get some carpet spray or powder and then vaccuum it up.
If you're really short on money, and this is the need for a home remedy, the cheapest thing to do is buy moth balls. Yes, moth balls. My mom has 2 cats, and before our dog passed, he brought many fleas into the house. Place some moth balls in the bag of your vaccuum cleaner and then vaccuum all carpeted areas. Surprisingly, this works and kills the fleas. Good luck.

Do NOT give your cat garlic, it's toxic to them.

Over-the-counter flea treatments can be harmful to your cat. Some have been proven toxic, and most are pretty inaffective. A bath with regular shampoo works just as well as a bath with flea shampoo, and you don't run the risk of poisoning your cat with pesticides.

A vet can administer a flea dip or capstar tablet for initial treatment, but you're just as well off buying some Frontline Plus and applying it to your cat. It worked on both of my cats. It kills adult fleas, larvae, and eggs within 18 hours, and prevents reinfestation for up to 30 days.

There are combs with tiny teeth, I got mine at WalMart pet department for about a couple bucks, don't remember for sure, but you comb the fleas off the kitten then drop them into a mixture of dish soap and water in a bowl. It's incredibly satisfying to see them all dead in the bowl! The combs are actually called flea combs, and, while they take patience - you have to actually get each flea one at a time - they work.

Your vet is the best person to ask. Depending on the age of the kittens, if they can be treated. Remember if you see one flea on your kitten, there are hundreds in your carpet. First, talk to your vet, and then treat your whole house, even outdoors. The best flea spot I have found for cats is Revolution. Take care of those kittens.....I'm a cat lover.

There are now drops that you can buy to put on the back of their neck to get rid of them....there are minimum ages for their use, but the ages are in the info in the packet....I gave some to my kittens I think at about 3 months old, but check with your vet and they'll check the packages and let you know.

if they are under 8wks of age you have to be really careful how you treat them. Probably just baths and treat the house. I have a friend who makes her own flea collars with essential oils. you could google it and find a recipe.
