of busy-body christian fanatics trying to convert the world? They talk about how bad Islam is at converting the masses, but they are doing the same fricken thing. Why can't we all just "discuss" religion? Why do we always have to be confronted by 500 words of scripture everytime anyone mentions it? I'm just here to discuss theories, when all I ever see is bible-thumpers telling us we're all going to hell! Screw them all!

Go ahead and report. It won't go through just because I'm speaking my opinion. Quit your crying.

First let me say that I am sincerely sorry you have been harrassed by so many Christians in your life. And as far as myself I am always glad to use scriptures to argue and philosophy as well. So, I do not always quote from the bible. However, there is something else that informs me about God and religion and that is experience of both. To be honest one cannot argue with you. Realize I am using the term argue in its original meaning of exchanging ideas or beliefs and not shouting at one another.
Anyway one cannot argue the notion of God or religion with you because your premise differs from the Christian. What do I mean? Simply this; God and religion are not theories to the Christian. Life and all within it are not theories, they are experiences or can be experienced. God is experience. Therefore, our premises differ and cannot come to a proper accord.
However, you can help me by defining what you mean by "theory". Scientific theory, mathematical theory, political, et. al. derive and rise from an experience of something (even if unseen). Yet, if you use the term theory to mean only speculation of a thing that may or may not exist, then we cannot dialogue clearly because one must begin from the standpoint of actual experience.
And so, I hope that you will let me know what you mean by theory. I also hope that you will be better treated by my fellow Christians. Have mercy on them. I sure do. And realize all their bickering cannot disuade your heart from happiness and knowledge unless you let it. May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

I have come here to learn about different religions and to see where tolerance can fit in. I am a Christian and I think all I could do would be to discuss my beliefs with you . Only God can make the change in your heart to convert. And nobody says you have to. All Christians I think would like to see everybody make it to Heaven but we realize it goes against human nature to deny yourself much of what the world has to offer and that is what is usually required of us. I do not think all of Islam is bad either but I feel like I am uncomfortable enough to not just choose to sit next to one on the plane without trying to open up a line of communication first.

Sad to say, many religious people never think about issues. Ever. They simply look for the guidance of scripture, accept what is written (or the interpretation of their spiritual leader) as gospel, and think they're covered. They're on God's side; He will reward them for not thinking for themselves. There's no NEED to think; God has thought out everything in advance and placed a blueprint before them. They only need follow it, step by step. And the faithful will do so, gladly and blindly. Praise Him. Praise Him! There's no need to question things--like why homosexuality should be condemned; we only need to know that the Bible or Qur'an condemns it. Glory Hallelujah! It matters not that homosexuality harms no one or that the crusades of the sanctimonious against homosexuality cause great distress to their gay and lesbian neighbors. What is a little human suffering next to obeying the Word of God?
Fortunately for us all--and most of all for themselves--there is a growing number of religious people who actually take the time to look up from their scriptures once in a while. I applaud them.

Wow, just glancing at all of the answers, the majority of the one's from Christians PROVES your point! "You need the lord"... "you can't discuss christianity unless you are someone who cares". Blind people will argue till they die that they see clearly. Honestly, it's not worth trying to discuss these things with blind people because of that.
I wouldn't say screw em all... there's some good one's out there, though it seems to be few and far between in here.

Well, I agree with you about all the crazy Christians...But I believe the same thing about any other crazy people in any other religion.
I'm a Christian but I try to make a point of not shoving my religion down other people's throats 'cause I know how much it sucks when they do it to me.
I'm not too happy about your "Screw them all!" statement...but I can understand where you're coming from.

I mean i dont want to stereotype christians because there are christians out there who you can actually have a conversations with. Last year I researched The Islam religion and intervied muslims about how they view the christian religion. Then i presented it to my mom's church. they were all so pissed of.
but ya im sick of it too.

I believe in all kinds of screwing
mental intercourse or dialogue by communication is one of them
if we don't talk to each other we eliminate the possibility for change or evolution of mind
by keeping an open channel of discourse, eventually they will do what I did, wake the hell up and embrace reality and truth over fairy tales and hatred of all they do not understand
I don't understand it all either but I know we all have a piece of the pie so we must share with talking and blogging

gentle kingsqueen, these folks are in desperate need. They are locked up tight in fear which underlies their relentless evangelism attempts. Their fear is like a gun to their head. They think they will suffer a fate worse than death if they dare step out of line.
Its not easy or fun to tolerate them but having once been there, I have much compassion for them.
Peace and Love to you.

Blah blah blah, you need the lord honey. I never said you are going to hell. I can't stand all you non-believers always generalizing and saying all Christians do these things. What about the Christians that you encounter who don't push God on you. They are all around you but I never here people talk of them. that's because you feed off negativity!
