My daughter has psoriasis on her scalp. All the shampoos the doctor prescribes don't seem to work. She has recently started secondary school and is embarressed by the big flakes falling onto her black blazer. Any suggestions or herbal remedies?

I had psoriasis on my scalp, behind my ears and on my elbows.
I tried everything prescribed by my GP but nothing worked.
I read about EXOREX a treatment from Australia and now I am clear. It is available from the chemist at about £15 per bottle.
1 bottle could be all you need, you only use a little at a time.

Wella SP sensitive is good as well as the remove shampoo and conditioner. the remove is extremely good if your scalp is falky my boyfriend has a realli bad problem but only uses the remove shampoo and that clears up flakiness and itching within 3-4 days. the senseitve has is gd as well as it very mild and doesn't irritate the scalp. You can only get SP from hairdressers but although its expensive to start with a bottle about £8 a bottle can last between 4- 10 months depending on if you use it right as it is very concentrated
i recommended it to anothe r person on here and they have bought it and tried it and say they can feel the difference within 3 days.
also you need to find out the cause of the problem whether is stress related or what as you are treating the symptons not the problem.
try massaging her scalp at night to displace alot of the loose flakes of skin this will make less fal out during the day heling to reduce the embarrisement

rubbing a tiny amount of olive oil into the scalp every few days can sometimes help depending on the severity of the psoriasis. my midwife gave me this advice when my first born was suffering from 'cradle cap'. i know that isn't as severe as the psoriasis but my ex suffers from it on his scalp (stress triggered) and he does actually find that it helps. it's also worth trying this method if you're wanting to steer away from medicated or prescription treatments.

Go see you doctor and request BENTOVATE - its a clear alcohol solution which you put on the scalp after washing it, it does sting a bit when applied, but after a couple of days, it really does make a difference and gets rid of all flakes.

i have the same problem and so did my daughter.. i would suggest she ties her hair in a plat if possible. I think you should try to get a steroid solution from your GP they do work better than the shampoo.. also stress will make this worse..
