While doing so, they leave their fingerprints all over the rim of the coffee mug and that is not acceptable anymore. Only grudgingly will the coffee be poured into a clean mug and I am looked at as if I am the idiot. The same happens with drinking glasses.

This means that the Resturant is a grubby one or that the waitress or waiter hasn't been trained the right way to pick up glasses and cups.

That is NEVER acceptable! Don't leave a tip. Complain to management. Continue to complain and let all your friends know. Eventually they will learn the CORRECT way to carry coffee mugs.

Places I visit use trays. Easier for the server and no fingers in the coffee.

I have waited tables proffesonally and I never touch a glass by the rim. I won't accept one from a waitstaff either. Voice your opinion everytime, educate the server, and demand a new drink altogether.

I noticed that on an airplane this weekend. The stewardess gave me a cup of water and handed it to me with her fingers around the rim. I did not drink it because of that. That's disgusting.

because the middle and the base of the cup are hot? If the cup has a handle then the server should use this but not all coffee cups have a handle.

most of them pour it on the table and dont touch anything. when your done they do that because they can grab like four at one time with there fingers. its faster to clean up.

I do agree with you it's not acceptable, but unfortunately there are no exact answer for that, they probably never tough about it. hmm germs
