Perfectly safe (thankfully). The water companies carry out regular quality tests to comply with government & european regulations. Here are details from the companies that supply regions in the south-east of the UK:

As far as known tap water is said to be safe to drink in England. But with all the drugs people have taken over the century's and passed through the system, there is no known reason to say what you are actually drinking anywhere in the world.

I don't drink it. I buy mineral water in plastic bottles and drink approx 2 litres a day which is recommended. Is this healthier than tap water? Yes. It is still contaminated with cancer producing plastic molecules and impurities and I could probably boil it which is what a lady did i read about who combated cancer but If we worried about stuff like this... I might as well live in my house 24/7 in case you get hit by a car or something ie... I still might die of something and this is guaranteed so I don't bother. Stress is the biggest killer today so the stress I experience on London Underground would probably kill me sooner. Answer. Probably. But who cares. There's more to worry about and no one lives forever.

It's very safe but some companies add fluriode and some people aren't happy with this. Some say cleaner than bottled water as it may have been sat on a shelf for months.

Very safe. Just doesn't taste too nice sometimes. Best to buy a Brita filter (£20 ish) and filter water through there, you can keep the jug in the door of the fridge.

It's safe but better to use filter....
I know in the UK the filter is quit expensive hm mm.
If you used the tab water for boiling and make a tea after one month you see inside your cattle is full of SPAWN.

It's bottled water that is dangerous. It gets bottled, transported, offloaded, stored... All at varying temperatures in varying amounts of light. Filthy muck.
