Diplomatically you would try to gather a coalition of nations against him which the US has been trying to do, and make threats of sanctions. But since Russia and China want to build a coalition against the US they don't support any sanctions against Iran.
Next, impose sanctions. The UN doesn't seem to want to do that because people want the Iranian oil. Saudi Arabia is the biggest oil producer.
Finally, military action may be necessary. In this case they may be the only thing that will work. Thankfully there are many rumors that if Iran gets closer to a viable nucelar weapon Israel will attack them first. Some had said that the hezbollah incursion into israel was really a smoke screen to buy Iran some time to develop more weapons.
Plus, the pope simply quoted a 700 year old speech that said muslims teach hate and violence in trying to point out how muslims are seen in the world and how do muslims react? With threats of violence. But I thought Islam means peace?
Much like in WWII, it won't be until Iran has built up weapons and invaded a number of neighboring countries before other nations will finally take notice. Who will be left to stem the tide of evil again? the US and England.

He doesn't want diplomacy, he would only see that as a weakness. He wants world rule under islam, period!
The coalition and santions crap through the un works well, huh. It sure worked with Iraq. We almost went to war with Iraq and then the un sanctions made saddam cooperate. That was a close one huh? The un...please. What a waste of land and money.

All Iran has in Oil. This implies that they use the oil revenue to take care of all their needs.
Obviously, for them to get as much income as they would like to, thye need to safeguard their position as the Top Dog in oil production. Hence the need to have other alternative sources of energy for domestic use.
But, hey, I don't support Iran. However, I believe they have a case!
