YES! your uterus slowly (but not smoothly) shrinks back to its original size. so for a while there might be a pocket of blood in there that wants to stay. so you stop bleeding. but then suddenly your uterus shrinks a little more, and that pocket gets dumped right out into your panties (or onto your new white skirt).... i bled off and on for about 8 weeks... there were times i would stop bleeding for a whole week and then start back up again. don't assume you're done until you've been clean for 3 weeks or more!
your ob/gyn should be able to give you some really good guidelines on what kind of bleeding is normal vs. what kind is dangerous... make sure you have that information!
good luck!

Yes and no. If you are laying down for awhile and then get up you may not have bled, or bled much while laying down. When you get up though you may bleed very heavy. Also, some women will get their first period right at the end of the six weeks so it seems that they stopped and then restarted.

Defiantly! I stopped and started several times for a few weeks after birth! Don't worry, it's completely normal!

bleeding after giving birth is expected and very normal, it usually lasts 3-6 weeks, and should get lighter every day. if you soak a pad in less than an hour, then you should seek medical attention. hope this helps

Yes. Typically the blood goes from bright red to pink to brown to yellow to white to gone. You can skip any of these though. You can also go from yellow to bright red if you are over doing it.
