Consecrate-Dedicated to a sacred purpose; sanctified. God never gave the command for human sacrifices. Jeremiah 19:5 says that the people built the high places of Ba'al in order to burn there sons as burnt offerings to the Ba'al. Notice what God says in the last part "something that I had not commanded or spoken of, and that had not come up into my heart." Also Jeremiah 7:31 supports that God does not approve of human sacrifices and 2 Kings 17:17.

No. Consecrate does not necessarily mean sacrifice. In animals, maybe, but as for humans, it means dedication like King David was consecrated to the Lord.

OK I'm a Pagan, not a Christian, but "consecration" does NOT mean "sacrificing". To consecrate means to cleanse and put aside for specific use.

But I think the Aztec Gods were really into the whole sacrificial thing.

In the Old Testament, God did love the sweet smell of the animals' sacrifices, but, human sacrifices came along by very large misunderstandings of Jesus Christ's own sacrifice for all of mankind's sins. The Incas believed in human sacrifices, because their religion was mostly pagan and did not reflect the Jewish religion of animal sacrifices and then the Christian religions, of human sacrifices being an admonition to God, our heavenly father.
