Don't you agree? You can go all day not worrying about something but once the light goes off there it is looming over you like a black cloud.

Also, on a lighter note, what's the silliest thing that's kept you awake that seemed like nothing in the morning? I'm good at that one! Even remembering to put the bin out the next morning can startle me awake during the night. LOL

YES I have the same problem what really helps is take a note book and pen beside you bed and write down what your thinking such as 'take the bins out in the morning' by writing it down i no longer have to think about it so its out of my head out of my mind then I fall asleep cause I'm no longer worrying about it!

Also try turning of the TV and all stimulation about half an hour to an hour before bed that way you have time to listen to your thoughts before your already in bed. Its because when watching TV your getting all information your not really thinking on your own and your occupying your mind with it once its off your no longer distracted from your own thoughts.

That's actually a disorder, I'm the same way, although it use to be much worse for me, I've even had insomnia once. Now I only worry once in a while or I worry a lot at night when I'm sick. Worrying about putting the bin out the next morning is a little too much, but I know how you feel. It's actually a sign that you are too stressed and have anxiety. What helped me is I wake up slow and have a good breakfast and just not think of anything for the first hour I wake up, then I make a list of all things that need to get done during the day, including things that need to get done daily and other specific projects. Always get your priorities done first or right after work so if you don't finish whats on your list you don't freak out at night and you can finish up the next day. Anyways... I don't know if this helps, its easier said than done. The main point is this, you have to learn to relax. Find something that relaxes you right when you wake up, during work, after work, and before you go to bed.

During the day you're bombarded with loads of information and your brain's need to process is completely fulfilled, then at night in the darkness with no visual or auditory stimulation it can only play over your memories, things you've seen, heard, worried about etc so it will go over them again and again, in some cases fabricating concerns that are not even justified. I usually stay awake really late worrying I won't be able to get up for work in the morning. Then I'm really tired when I do! How silly!!

Most likely , it's because, at nights you got no more distractions to keep your mind occupied. Sometimes, while lying there, you go thru a mental check and go down the list of things you have accomplished that day, things that need to be attended to in the immediate future; or long term goals in the far distant future. That's why it's not unusual for one to have a brainstorm forcing one to get out of bed and do it lest one forgets. Sometimes, a nagging problem persisted in your mind all night, that it turn into a lingering dream. So the best med for sleep is to wipe that mental slate clear of any worries and problems and thoughts. This is easier said than done. The use of music helps to displace these problems.

I was just talking to my friend about that last night! I have no clue but it bugs me. If we had these problems during the day maybe someone would notice and help us out.
At night I pick out what i'm going to wear the next day and think that it will look cute. When i wake up in the morning i think the outfit will be ugly and i have to pick out a new one.

During the daytime, a person is always occupied with jobs to perform. But while lying down and doing nothing or while going to sleep, the physical activity stops, where the brain used to be occupied for even making the simplest to simplest decisions, like walking, holding, writing, etc., now in the time to sleep, it is un-occupied and hence, all the thoughts that you were holding up to give a thought later, suddenly rush towards you, instead of coming one by one.

The demons visit at night, when we are more receptive and less resilient. I tey to settle any issues before bedtime, so I don't start on some new worry at 3am!

I once worried about a piece of furniture I was making, and dreamed the answer to how to design it! I wish could dream the lottery numbers, or how to create world peace!

At night and in the evening people think about their problems more and analyse things over & over again.

Everyone says it, but write down whatevers bothering you on a notepad - even if it's just 'can't believe he did that etc...' - put the pad next to your bed and then mentally you will relax because you need not to remember or think about it until morning.

This really works and is the best way i know of.

I think it maybe because during the day you are too busy to think properly but at night you are laying there thinking and everything looms... I have been kept awake at night worrying about dentist appointments, missing cat, daughters homework, my tan fading and how to stop it and worst of all, getting older! ha, I am bag of neuroses....LOL

Don't get me started.....I had a cat that went missing once and every night until she returned I found myself crying and wailing and picturing her being eaten by foxes. the reality was she was fine and refused to come in cos she was having too much fun. After 14 nights and a few pounds lighter she came back on her own free will. xxx. The joy of pets!!!
