For one thing, black people tend to stay out of the sun. I think that's part of it.

Since i am black i would first like to say that one of the main things is because we put a lot of stuff on us. When we are very young we put on a gallon of lotion on everyday. And white folk don't really get ashy. But black people don't until later is a myth. It just seems like it. But we don't. We get just as old and age the same as white folk.

I think it has more to do with lack of sun exposure than race. From infancy, SOME lighter races spend a lot of time at the pool, on the beach, or just laying out in the sun which we allll know causes some skin damage later, as well as advances the aging of the skin. Very fair-skinned people with red hair also seem to age later because of being very careful to limit sun exposure and for wearing skin protectants at a very young age. Everyone...no matter what race or gender...should wear sunscreen or sunblock every single day because it's like keeping your car in the garage instead of parked out on the street. It maintains its original look for muuuch longer. I have dry skin, but b/c I've worn sunblock on my face for the past 10 yrs, my skin looks great! And I'm 38 yrs old. (HATE telling my age, btw!)

Because black people have more melanin in their skin so that it doesn't wrinkle as easily as white folks.

Thanks for the compliment!
Black people do age, but because we have a higher amount of melanin in our skin, we "age" less. But that all depends on how light or dark you are...
White folks wrinkle because they have less pigment in their skin and LOOOOOOVE to tan...which I find very ironic.

I believe it has to do with the sun. Darker skinned people have more melanin in their skin than fairer people. This seems to protect them from sun damage. Darker people have to have longer exposure to sunshine than lighter people to produce the same amount of vitamin D in their skin.

melanin pigment in gr8er concentration affords better protection from sun damage, less melanin in lighter skinned people allows for sun damage appearing sooner.that being said, everyone ,all races ,should wear sunscreen, anyone can get melanoma, which is another consequence of sun damage.

Because they have more pigment in their skin, they don't wrinkle as quickly...so they look younger!
Lucky black people! You do have the most gorgeous skin.
