Having been the recipient of bullying in my childhood years, I always was perplexed as to why someone felt they had to be mean to me and others when I hadn't done anything to them.

fear...they get beat up at home usually and have to overcompinsate elsewhere. they feel weak so they have to abuse people they percieve to be weaker. the best to way to defeat a bully is to stand up to them, they dont like a challange. I must put a disclaimer that some people nowadays are f ucking crazy, standing up to bully is cool but walk away if you think they have a weapon. Nothing worse than a coward with a gun.

This is heavy psykology, and the perfect answer does not even excist yet. But wats clear ofcourse is that it has a lot to do with a childs upbringing and the climat in the family. But whats maby more important is how this person gained acnolligement and respect. (excuse my spelling, Im Swedish). If preeschool was the first real confrontation with other kids, it can be there problems started. If, when you try to gain respect by being meen to a weeker person, that bring you positive reactions, as respect or "friends", a feeling of power...it will push you to keep developing that tendency, but, if you get early cought by a good pedagoge(teacher), that really works on the issue. With the bully, and maby even in the big group, involving the parents and dont give up until the situation is stabil. It´s good reasons to beleve it will never happen again.
Parents are always important. But for parents to be ABLE to step in, there must be a very open atmosphere in the home, so that the kid dare to tell about bullying someone at school. And if the kid do, take it GENTLY by the hand and go right over to the "victimes" house and talk. That might chance the intire life for both these kids. Still not many parents have the knoweledge, or energy or time to do that.

Im educated in this matter and have many succesful cases behind me. I hope u understod, but like I said Im Swedish and my English is not perfect. There is a lots of litterature to find about it tho.

The main thing to remember is. The problem is never really with the VICTIM, but very often a psykological lack of attention with the bullier. It strikes very unfairly, and have a lot to do with pure luck or unluck to come across the wrong people at the wrong time.

I hope this can help you.....

A lot of kids become bullies due to family problems. They need someone to take their anger out on, so who is the best choice? The weak kid. They need to feel better about themselves so they bully the kid with no confidence.
