I heard that a few schools here in Texas were allowing religion classes as an elective. Some schools were teaching predominatly christian perspectives and were being critized, but in some schools they where teaching about all sorts of different religions. Just wondering if anyone out there took one of these classes in High School and what you were taught? Was it just from a christian perspective? Or was it a range of perspectives?

I took RE when I was in high school. I even passed exams in it. But that was in the days when religion was Christianity and not anything you felt like. The scriptures were taught with focus on the eschatology of the gospels.

The religion class I took was in college. Called Comparative world religions. It discussed the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu religions. These were chosen because they are the predominate religions in the world. Religion was never offered in High school.

I took a class in Jr. High called Monsters and Myths. It was about Greek mythology mostly. I consider that a religion class.
