Ok, I know what the Rapture is supposed to be, but I have a question. It concerns those bumper stickers, "When the Rapture comes, this car will be unmanned." If the Rapture is true, wouldn't that put you out of the running? After all, you're saying that you know you're better then everyone, and isn't that God's call?
For the record, I'm Catholic and don't believe in the Rapture, but I've always wondered about those bumber stickers. An honest answer, please. Thanks.

ToYka: That's kinda what I was asking. How do you know that you're going to heaven? If it were just believing in Jesus and God and following the bible, wouldn't all Christians (and Catholics) go to heaven? I always saw the stickers as a pride thing. Please understand, I'm not attacking anyone's religion. This is just a question.

People have been proclaiming that they are living through the "end times" for waaaaay too long. There's always some unhygienic street-corner evangelist crackpot sputtering about how the world is going to end and that all the heathens better get the Lord harassed into their unsaved souls.
It STILL hasn't happened. The sky isn't falling. The oceans aren't boiling. Pigs are most definitely NOT sprouting wings and making like the birdies. They've been barking about it for years and years and years and they'll STILL be barking for years to come.
It's a scare tactic, a convenient freak- the- everliving- crap- out- of- folks magic wand that can be waved about in dramatic fashion any time the religious collective feels the soul harvest is running dry.
Trust me... go about your life. Ok, I'm sure you will anyhow considering there's really no alternative option (besides suicide, and I've heard God frowns upon that), but just make sure to keep in mind: STAY CALM. DON'T PANIC. REMEMBER YOUR TOWEL.

If you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Personal Savior (and He knows, there is no faking) then you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will go to Heaven when you die. And if the Rapture occurs before you die, then you will be taken away in the Rapture, (Because only those that are saved will be taken up in the Rapture) So when you see bumper stickers that say "When the Rapture comes, this car will be unmanned" That doesn't mean that they think that they are better than everyone, it simply means that they know that they are going to go up with the Rapture when it occurs. This is great news, wouldn't you want everyone to know your great news too?It is the same as when people put the "My child is on the Honor roll" sticker's on their car. They are proud of this fact and they want the world to know it.

I believe in the Rapture. I have seen those bumper stickers as well. Yes it is God's call, but he said that no man can come to the father except by me, meaning that if you don't accept him as your lord and Savior then you aren't truly born again. I do not think that by displaying this bumper sticker is not saying that you are better than the next person, it is just that these people are proclaiming their faith.

steph w,
"If the Rapture is true, wouldn't that put you out of the running?"
You mean to drive a car? The rapture will happen no matter where those that believe in it are. God isn't going to wait for everyone to stop what they are doing first.
"After all, you're saying that you know you're better then everyone, and isn't that God's call?"
Did Enoch think that he was better than everyone? Dod does what He wants, even if you don't believe in the rapture.
If you don't have faith in God, you won't go.

We do not say that were better than others if you become a Christan the Biblical way you will be raptured.
The thing that sets us apart from the people that will not be raptured is salvation.
but i do not agree with the teaching of the Catholics i agree with the Bible.
note:The teaching of the Catholics and the teaching of the Bible are two seperate things.

If I knew the rapture was coming soon, I think I'd ride the bus everywhere because a car sailing through traffic at 70mph with no one behind the wheel is not a good idea. What if it ran into a school yard or something?

No one is saying they're better than anyone and I really don't think any bumper sticker should be taken literally. I mean, really!

first of all if a person has believed on Jesus Christ as their Saviour they can't be put "out of the running". and second, i just think that if someone puts that on their bumper they are using it as a testimony just to say that they are a Christian not as a means to brag to the world but to warn them.

Just because you know you have been forgiven and receive salvation how does that mean you think you're better than someone else?
Enlighten me.
Why do you think we spread this message so everyone can get to heaven not just us.
Love in Jesus' name
