If anyone can provide a close English translation as well (eg Lorencio= Lawrence) it would be much appreciated!

There is no tranlation to Egidorio. You father didn't receive a normal name (no offenses). It's not like Michael (Miguel) or George (Jorge). I am from a Portuguese-speaking country (Brazil) and I have never seem in my life someone with that name.

Hi. I looked up Egidorio on www.google.com.br and the only results that came up were this very question on Yahoo answers. Sounds like your dad has an extremely unique name. I checked it out on Julie's site to no avail. Google.com.br asked me if I meant to search for Egidio. Egidorio really has a Spanish ring to it. Could it be Egidio Hispanicized or something? You might try Egidio
on Julie's site just for kicks.

Sorry. Just looked up the name in all my books, and can not find any information. May I suggest you visit your local library. They may have books on Portuguese history, that may be able to answer your question. Please explain your query, and I;m sure they will give you help and advice.
