He may need his anal glands emptied, or have parasites that make it itch..or he might just be fastidious..

Right under the tail are two "anal glands" that carry the dog's own "personal scent". If the glands get irritated or blocked, it can cause the dog a lot of discomfort. Licking at this area often inidcates a problem with the glands. We suggest that you take your dog to your vet and have him check the glands out (and drain them if necessary).

Dogs and cats are very clean animals. If the dog is clean there but still lick, then he may got warms. Try pills to get rid of these before you go to a vet who will suck your money.
Better still, watch his stool when fresh to see if any warms there.

It is a totally natural thing. If he licks under your tail then discipline him.

Not to be gross, but he is cleaning his anal area..... Does he take baths much? If he dosen't I suggest you umm wash his butt more....Or you can go to the vet and get his anal drained... The vet will probabally take a tissue and squeeze his but a bit and it will be drained so he shouldn't lick his hiney again..

I believe he is cleaning himself. You could help out by cleaning him with a wet rag and doggy soap. Sometimes they drag their butts on the ground to clean it. Weird huh?

hes cleaning him self.you wash your body.but hes not able to go hop in the shower so.he is just making sure it is still there.and making sure its clean.
