January The halls have no holiday parties and lots of openings where it's either you or an empty room. The same with all the other vendors. Take it from someone in the industry. Another thing that saves money if you can put this together in 2 1/2 or 3 months. It's that same thing the halls are feeling... like it's so close to the date that it's you or an empty room. You'll have to scout a bunch of places But if you do this in July you may get a nice October date, or in May for July even then if nothing you like comes up there's always the winter to fall back on.

Despite what you read in the magazines, weddings don't have to be a big ordeal.
A simple ceremony can cost as little as the $35 marriage license and can be done during a lunch break. The only planning involved is checking the state's waiting period, which can range from no wait at all to more than three months.
But if the bare minimum ceremony is not appealing, there are plenty of exciting wedding options to fit most budgets.
According to Scott Shaw, author of "Let's Elope: The Definitive Guide to Eloping, Destination Weddings, and Other Creative Wedding Options," one of the most fun yet easy ceremonies is the surprise wedding.
"You just invite people over for a surprise birthday party, but really it's a surprise wedding," Shaw said. "The bride comes in, everyone yells 'surprise,' but she's in a wedding dress. Then somebody in the crowd that nobody's noticed comes up and starts to do the ceremony."
Shaw said there also are elegant ways to have a quiet, inexpensive wedding, such as a dinner party with friends and relatives at a restaurant after the big event. And if the friends and family pick up the tab, the couple could even end up on the plus side.
He notes, too, that the trend today is moving away from what he calls the TBW (Traditional Big Wedding).
"Eloping, as we define it as anything other than the TBW, is really growing fast," Shaw said.
I Hope this helps you! Congratulations in advance!

why do I keep saying the same stuff over and over again?? ok, you haven't been reading young lady so here goes. If you really really love him, and he loves you then that's all that matters, posh and fancy weddings are a farce and make money for loads of people. go and book a registry office, you get the same piece of paper but it costs 10,000 pounds less. have 2 witnesses. go away on a cheap but nice holiday for a week, on return you should have planned a party in a local hall with a bar and disco. Announce to all that you wed the man you love before you went on holiday, tell all to have a great time and gifts will be gratefully received over the next few weeks. Don't wait for the gifts, only your true friends will understand why you married like this, only they will buy you a gift, however, all the thousands you have saved on buying frocks you will never wear again, feeding people you will never see again will enable you to buy what you both want. You may think your mother will never forgive you, she will if she loves you.

very cheapest way would be to elope to gretna green i think!
register offices are cheaper than churches, second hand wedding dress maybe, buffet instead of sit down meal - some places will give you a function room for free if you can guarantee a certain amount of people. get someone to make your cake or get a cheap one from somewhere like M&S or Tesco. get attendants to buy their own outfits. Use fake flowers rather than fresh.... um, can't think of anything else. Hope that helps. Although do bear in mind you only supposedly do this once so you want it to be memorable - happy planning!

The cheapest is to go to the courthouse.
If you want a ceremony. Have it at home or outside. Plan everything yourself.
Make your own invitations. Look at some wedding books etc. to get ideas. And make your own:
Invitations on your computer. Find some samples and copy the wording on to your document and print it on nice colored paper at Kinko's or other copy place.
Thank you cards - make them cut them out and buy a bunch of those gold plastic rings and roll them up and put them in a large basket. You can find a nice basket at a garage sale.
Food / Cake - Check your grocery store. Walmart and Hy Vee actually makes nice wedding cakes without the extreme cost. Food 6 foot sub sandwich and someone to cut it. Cook your self anything else you may want.
Make your own bouquets

Why dint you guys get married in court then have a small reception for just the immediate family. You could do the cooking or some one close to you.
I had my wedding for $350 (the marriage was Worth less than that). (divorced now)
But we bought fake flowers for the bridesmaids and real ones for me. The guys wore their Military uniforms. I borrowed a dress from a friend. And the me & my mom cooked the food we also had the reception at the rec room in our apts. My cousin did the music. My grandma made the cake (it was beautiful).

If you are going down the standard route of service-dress-party, then you could try to cut some of the costs by getting or borrowing some of the necessary things for free.
If you have close friends or close relatives with particular skills - calligraphy for the invites, or cake-baking, or dj-ing - you could ask for that as your wedding present from them.
The Freecycle network has people in the Lake District http://groups.yahoo.com/group/KendalFreecycle/ I'd best describe Freecycle as a bit like eBay, but no money changes hands - you look at what other people have posted as "offered", and you can also list "wanted"s. I live in London, where the Freecycle community is incredibly strong and active, and I've seen plenty of people post "wanted" ads for things for weddings - such as decorations to dress the reception venue, even wedding dresses. There's no shame in it (in fact I rather suspect the London Freecycle community is overwhelmingly middle-class).
Finally, if you have a party at your home, and you have a garden, then have the wedding in summer and you double the size of your wedding venue at no cost!

My fiancé and I are getting married in December and we have had a strict budget to stick to, personally I think you need to sit down together and decide what the most important elements of the day to you are. The most important thing to me (although it does sound a bit cheesy) was to be able to invite as many of my family and friends as possible to share our day with us, and to my fiancé it was important to get married in church (he is religious although I am not).
So...we are getting married in church, we are having a sit down meal for 40 at a small local hotel, and in the evening we are hiring a local hall and inviting an extra 120 people and our families are all pitching in to do a buffet. We have also saved money by making our own invitations, doing our own decorations etc (we are paying a florist to do my bouquet but are doing everything else ourselves) and my stepdad is making my wedding cake.
Try visiting the messageboards on www.confetti.co.uk and www.hitched.co.uk and they will be able to give you loads more ideas!

Get a cheap deal off the Internet (google cheap Vegas flight and accom) and go to Las Vegas, all you need is your passports to get a licence from the county clerks office for $55.00 dollars cash, any taxi driver will take you there its open all hours, after that you can get married anywhere for as little as $50 and while your there count it as your honeymoon. I did this in June, we had a small get together for friends and family when we got back at home
