First of all, let's hope it never happens.
There woulkd be three immediate effects:
1- there would be even greater anti-Islamic feeling in western nations, but there would also be an even greater debate about relations with Islam.
2- some countries would at least try to insist on a so-called "western values" approach to assimilation of immigrants.
3- a new Pope would be elected.

Turkey committed genocide against the Armenians and Greeks. They are a savage and uncivilized people. They have no claim to the high moral ground. The fact that they do claim it is a sick joke. They have more blood on their hands and more reasons to ask for forgiveness than the Pope has. I am not RC but I think that the Turks are just spoiling for a fight - it's the only thing they are halfway good at. If the Pope is assassinated it will merely confirm what many already know, that they are savages and that it would be a mistake to let them join the EU.

I would feel I have lost a good man. The world will pay tribute to the Pope who died. Extremists of course will be jubilant to these. But people of all religions (including Muslims if that is where you want to lead the question) will pay homage. For after all his assasination is done only by an angry few and I do not even consider those as the real people of God.

what do you mean "if" he's assasinated? it may not be in turkey but he will be assassinated by the end of 2007. the next pope will also be assassinated and the 3rd pope will be the worst we've ever seen (evil). by the time all this is said and done, there will be no more catholic church.

The Catholics would have to pass the plate again to afford setting up a new Pope.

I THINK IT WOULD SHOW THE WORLD HOW VIOLENT THE ISLAMIC FACTION TRULY IS. I MEAN, HE SAID SOMETHING THAT WAS QUOTED YRS AGO, SAYING ISLAM IS EVIL AND FORCED PEOPLE TO CONVERT. AND THE MUSLIMS TRUE TO FORM ARE SHOWING THE WORLD HOW VIOLENT THEY ARE BY REACTING AS THEY ARE. THEY MURDERED A NUN WHO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS. THEY HAVE TORCHED A FEW CHURCHES AND THEY ARE NOT EVEN CATHOLIC CHURCHES. THE MUSLIMS BROTHERHOOD IN EGYPT EVEN WENT SO FAR TO SAY THAT "THEY WILL NOT REST UNTIL ISLAM TAKES OVER THE WORLD" THIS IS THEIR GOAL FOR SURE. AMAZINGLY ENOUGH, MUSLIMS BRING THIS ON THEIRSELVES WITH ALL THEIR HATRED FOR THE WEST AND CHRISTIANITY. THEY HATE US WITH A PASSION, JUST AS THEY HATE THE JEWS....TO THEM WE ARE ALL BETTER OFF WITHOUT HEADS... I HAVE POSTED A GREAT SITE, GIVES LOTS OF INSIGHT INTO ISLAM AND IT IS A SITE OF TRUTH NOT PROPAGANDA

I would feel that Saint Benedict XVI was with the Lord of Love.

How would I react? Well, the only way to fight the dark is with light.... and I would redouble my efforts and try to show light everywhere in my life.

I would be glad. It wouldn't affect world politics too much. Maybe leaders would be more cautious on their speech, but it is not like the pope runs a country, aside fromt he vatican. Ratzinger is obviously a nazi asshole that was chosen for lack of candidates, so seeing him gone would be interesting.

And I'm not muslim.
