I sincerely believe He does, though I'm not always sure my definition of mercy and His are quite the same.

He sees much farther and with a broader scope than any human. That said, even I can comprehend a situation (as one example) in which it might be merciful to allow someone to contract a terminal disease if it led to that person turning to God and receiving eternal life. Or a situation in which a person became handicapped so that he or she might be able to give hope and bring the gospel to other handicapped people (as with Joni Eareckson Tada or David Ring).

Would it be merciful to tackle someone and maybe break his rib or arm if, in doing so, you prevented him from being run over by a bus? Mercy can be a complicated concept.

No! Have you seen the Katrina footage, or the tsunami footage? Hello?
If there is a daddy in the sky who hears our prayers, he needs to turn his hearing -aid up! Or was someone else praying to destroy them all and that was the channel he was watching?
I think it is very childish and unreasonable to believe in a big santa in the sky who knows what you are thinking and will turn back the laws of nature just for you, if you pray just right or send money to some slick-haired evangelist.
Believe in the invisible that you can understand if you want, justice, love, fairness, joy, but not in fairy tales.
Try reading about Buddhism or Confusionism or Hinduism. Or even Native American religions. There is more than one way to see things.

Yes, God hears everything, because he is all knowing and all- present, he is present everywhere, all the time. Of course he hears our prayers. Sometimes we just have to trust him and remember that he has a plan, that he is in control, and that he knows what he's doing. even when we can't fathom why he might not be doing things the way we want him to, we just have to trust that he's got it all planned out, and that he'll do things in his own time and in his own way.

It says in the Holy Bible, "when two or three are gathered in my name, I will answer their prayer" and "knock and the door will be opened" So, does that not answert your question about answered intercession prayers for other people, besides yourself. I would do it myself, but, I have too many problems in my life right now to be taking care of someone else, even if I want to do intercessionary prayer, I still have to take care of myself in this man-made hell I am in right now in my life.

ABSOLUTELY. I prayed for my nonbelieving father for ten years. Four days before my dad died, at 91 years old, he said yes to Jesus as his savior.

This was the prayer I must have said a thousand times to God: "Father, you say in your word that you will have mercy on whom you choose, and you will also harden the hearts of whom you choose. I ask in the name of your son, please do not harden my Dad's heart, please have mercy on him".

God did.

In Islam, someone's prayers for you is considered more valuable than your own. Simply because not many people would pray for someone else but themselves. So if someone is sincerely prays for you God will most definetely (Inshallah) accept it.
