Actually, the question should be... why did Jesus wait until 30 years old to start healing people? Why did he pass up so many people that could have been healed. If he were alive today, he could be sued under the Good Samaritan law.

Of course, maybe, perhaps, he DID. His mother Mary was not surprised when he turned water into wine, she prompted him confidently into doing so. She must have seen something. Perhaps it was held under wraps for years to protect him from becoming a celebrity too soon, before all the pieces of the puzzle were in place.

Of course there is a belief that he once traveled east for a while, such as China or India. Perhaps he learned some of his tricks over there. Personally, I believe he got the ability from a recently fallen meteorite. Just kidding.

Who knows.... The Bible is silent on much of Jesus's childhood. There are sparse accounts of his life up until around 12 years old then nothing until he is 30. The childhood accounts don't do much other than fortell his death, imply divinity and show he has a penchant for reform.

The infancy Gospel of Thomas along with other books that cover Jesus's childhood are not cannonized and not part of the Bible, that means that church scholars questioned their authenticity (because of dates, wrong information, incongrous teachings, etc.) enough to leave them out. There are also tales that try to fill the void by saying Jesus's traveled to India, the far east, the new world, etc... some have more merit than others.

Strange that for someone so central to the Bible we only really have 3 years worth of "good records."

It is reported that he won 55,678 marbles in a single game in Bethlehem and that somehow managed to get all A's in 5th grade without ever showing up for class.

All kidding aside, there has always been some speculation that there was a "Gospel Of The Young Jesus" or "The Infancy Gospel of St. Thomas" (not the gnostic version), which did NOT make it to the "New Testament" because in it Jesus actually causes the death of a couple of kids who got on his nerves.

Good quesiton- may I take a shot at answering it?

Jesus was about 12 years old when he "forgot" to travel with his parents from Jerusalem to his home in Bethelhem.
For 3 days, roughly he argued with the Preists and the Lawyers in the Temple- essentially, he verbally cleaned their clocks. Mary and Joe came, picked him up, they tried to scold him and he said "Hey, I'm just doing my FATHERS business" so they backed down.

Shortly after this time- but not much after, I suspect- there was a wedding. Big Wedding, aparently- Mary and Joe along with Jesus was invited to the wedding and the reception. They ran out of wine- Mary came to Jesus and said "Jesus, they're out of wine". Jesus's response was somewhat typical of a young teenager- "Woman, its not my time"- he wasn't rebellous, so much as he was making the point that his time for doing miracles hadn't come YET. Mary essentially said "Jesus, we need wine- heres some servants- somehow make it happen". So Jesus made the wine- this was his first miracle.

Interesting to note that Jesus followed Marys orders, in spite of the timing being wrong for him to start his ministry. This is one time, where Jesus put his MOTHER over GOD's desires.

Jesus, thinking, told the Servants to fill up several 30 gallon (about 120 liters) pots with water. He made roughly 120 GALLONS (480 liters) of aparently very high quality wine.

The groom's family aparently remarked "Most people put out the good wine first, then when its drunk up they put out the cheap wine- however, you have saved the best for last!"

Believe it or not, Jesus Christ was a party animal

he was the only thing created by God directly, and he made everything else under Jehovah's direction. But when sent to the earth as a child in Mary's womb, he lost his prior knowledge. That is, until he was baptized and Holy spirit was upon him, and he was given all that knowledge back. So no, he didn't have the power to heal others when younger, only after his baptism. He didn't have to learn it either, as it was inherited once the Holy spirit was given to him after baptism.

Jesus' supernatural ministry began when the Holy Spirit descended upon Him at His baptism, and the Father proclaimed that He was His Son...up until then He lived the life of a normal human being.

Very sweet question......good question.........I don't know but I bet He was a cute little s*hit.
I think He had to develop His power through Faith and His Faith grew just like any other human beings would. As soon as He was old enough to start forming His own opinions and could tell the difference between good and evil He could probably begin seeing that He was different than other children somehow.

There were some things he did have to learn. But healing isn't learned it is imparted. He received the ability to when the Holy Ghost came on him at baptism. Then, when the timing was right was able to release the gift. With God- it's all about timing.

Jesus was able to do everything as a child that he was as an adult. For Jesus, everything had a time and a place. That He didn't perform many miracles or show-off any of His abilities when He was young doesn't mean that He didn't have them. Remember...the Son can do nothing without the Father.
