I.E. What good does religion actually bring to the world, it only seems to divide us and cause war.

I invite you to give up religion and live and love for the NOW!

I'm already there.
Although, I cannot give up the concept of spirituality.

Regardless, I am in the now and hear what you are saying.

True religion causes lots of wars, but have they stopped wars, aguable. There have been some great leaders in our history who have and their belief in themselves could be religious or spiritual.

A person could make the argument that all wars have been stopped by religion. The belief that killing is a sin might be a significant factor in the peace process. Ultimately, why else would they stop.
Many wars have been started over religious differences. They start because of the zealotry of a small percentage of the population. The majority of worshippers do so in their own way and leave others alone.
The biggest errors that are made by religious leaders currently is their lack of condemnation of these extremists.

It's a good question. Problem is, you can't prove a negative. If religion prevented a war, you wouldn't know it because the war never happened. So you can only cite instances when religion failed to stop a war or when religious disputes were the cause of war.

I'll agree with you this far: Jesus said peacemakers are blessed and there aren't anywhere near enough of them.

I guess you can argue that Jesus kept a war from happening when he told Peter to drop his sword and then healed the soldier's ear when he was being arrested.

But you point is well stated. Generally, religion doesn't stop war, it starts it when people are deceived by extremists, such as today's terrorists. Today it's Muslims, tomorrow it will be old school Mormons. Each has an excuse.

Now, if we can only give those extremist Muslims the IMPRESSION that we at least understand their concerns, perhaps... Nah, let's continue ignoring them. They deserve their poverty. LMAO

Religion stopped a war when the abandoned child was given a meal and taken in by a complete stranger, and given the chance to grow into a man.

Good proposal. Gave religion up when I was 15, best decision ever. And no, religion has never stopped any war. In fact, it is the main cause of many of the wars going on in the world today.

You could not be any more right. Most wars actually started over religion or religious issues.

Try telling that to the muslims, for some reason they want to bomb us back to the stone age, and they feel it would be a good thing to do.

AGREE COMPLETELY!

What if every person who goes to church gives that money for the education and health of people on poor situations?

Religion has stopped development, research, has demonstrated being a criminal institution where people get brainwashed for their own desires. Stop regligion, stop following other people, with false promises, and start loving and giving for a better world.

Apparently religion can do nothing but divide people and cause hatred. I haven't given up religion!

Love and peace
